Packard Bell iConnect 1700 RW - C 700 MHz

Advantages: Slim and Lightweight
Disadvantages: Mouse is rubbish

...I recently acquired one through work. Straight away I could see that it is lighter and thinner than my own laptop, which is a Packard bell easy one sliver. It weights 3.2kg and is a compact 32.2 cm x 27.7 cm x 3.8 cm approx. On further investigation I have also found that it does not get too hot, other laptops I have used, including the bell, the fan tends to over heat and if you are watching a DVD on it, it will start to run really s-l-o-w-ly. So that was nice. I have not had any problems with the machine so far the only things that have really bugged are: the mouse nobbley bit is small and daft as it is not easy to control, I much prefer machines which have a touchpad. Also the volume does not go very high (I guess in a way this is a good thing, at least you cannot deafen yourself.) It does tend to crash quite a bit and it is also... Read review

...We bought this product after the previous computer we had got damaged, a few months ago, the Packard Bell started to go all strange and refused to work properly, we have since discovered that all the computers main systems are ingrated and will therefore cost a lot of money to replace, we think that Packard Bell PCs are overpriced and not easily upgradable, should anything go wrong, the extended warranties are very overpriced and at the end of the day if you take the 5 yr warranty, your PC will be 5 years old at the end of it and will be consigned to the scrapheap in the proverbial sky for computers.... ...i have used my packard bell iconnect pc since 1999 i now also have a iconnect 2800i which i have networked together with the other one. both my pcs have never given me any trouble the reboot system is fast and reliable and parts are easy to replace i have owned other pcs and they have lasted no more than two or three years. My iconnect machine has outlived both of these. As i am someone who is qualified in computer engineering i would judge myself to be an expert on this. I have never had any problems replacing parts and i find the added software on packard bell iconnect machines is far outstanding to that of others..The software extras provided include, My packard bell , this is a complete asset to anyone who is not very computer literate and even gives access to a virtual world.. I would tell anyone not to worry when purchasing this pc... Read review
