This has to be one of the most soft and fresh fragrances a man can find. I have to admit I stayed away from it, largely due to the fact that my Dad used to wear it when I was young (though he also wore Eau Sauvage which is now one of my faves ;).
But recently I saw an offer that I couldn't refuse and picked up a bottle for next to nothing (17 quid for a 50ml bottle in superdrug).
Lets start with the bottle - it will sit proudly on your bathroom shelf or your dressing table. It is non-fussy, and simple design. Apart from M7, this has to be one of the smartest bottle designs - no cap to fuss with.
The fragrance itself will shock most young men. The more mature will appreciate its approach though. It starts of very sharp, very high. If anyone knows what Sage and Rosemary smell like, its what you smell first off. So right now, most young men think - no way! But patience is a virtue, and when it comes to exquisite fragrances this also applies.
Within a few minutes you begin to notice the heart of this cologne. Its floral, thats a fact. I believe its Lavendar and Geranium. There is however, a masculine undertone that women will notice.
The dry down of this fragrance is where it shows its class. I read that its Moss, Honey, Musk and Amber. Those are very manly notes (apparently!) and you'll notice immediately that they are very 'soft' in their approach.
Its been described here as heady, as soapy, well I'd agree with the soapy - it smells clean and fresh. The heady bit is mostly due to the floral notes - ever walked into a flower shop and suddenly noticed how potent it smells? In normal city life we aren't exposed to natural flower smells, so they are alas becomming alien to us.
Still this cologne has a fresh lasting appeal to it.
I'd definitely say its a 'suit' fragrance. And if used delicately, a great work/office scent. Its has that aura to it, and it sure will put you apart from the CK and D&G crowd.
If you're looking for a gift for a young man, or a hubby, I'd recommend you try this out. And if you're in the market for something new for yourself, then give this a shot!

I was surprised to see this here. Does anyone still use this heady aftershave? I thought it was completely out of fashion.
Once the preferred choice of those that thought they were going somewhere or were part of the in crowd.....whatever that means......it rapidly became the one not to wear, simply because nearly everyone else seemed to. It then became the favourite of 'representatives' and you could not avoid the pungent aromaa at sales conventions. ...

Advantages: Used as it should be, it should last you a long time. Disadvantages: Even slightly too much=WAY OVERPOWERING.
...or for anytime, I think Paco would best be used for formal and special occassions, and if the lady (or man) in your life particularly likes you very masculine, then this is great.
Overall, a long staying fragrance, which I personally find very pleasant. Just be careful, used overly and you smell highly volatile! ...

Advantages: Clasic Quality Disadvantages: Was Over exposed in the past
...range from £22 for a 100ml aftershave to £150 for a 1000ml bottle of eau de toilette you can also find soap in the same fragrance.
One more thing Paco Rabanne does seem to always wear black I often see him when I am in the south of France. ...

From the first moment I ever smelled this, I was in love. That it is still around almost two decades later is a tribute to it's popularity. Yes, there was a time when it was the "scent of the day" and it seemed everyone was wearing it, then along came something else and the young and restless moved on, and the old faithfuls stayed true. Occasionally, you'll still find a younger guy who just happens to be wearing it, but I suspect this is one of those ... ...to smell on their men = so we buy it for birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's Day or Father's Day. And why do men wear after shave? Is it not in order to attract those of the opposite sex?
Yes, it's heady but there's a sexy clean fresh smell underneath as it fades. In a sense it's dated in that it brings back lots of memories, but then again it's also making more! Give it another 20 years and it'll probably still be around - I wonder how many of today's ...

I have just come back from a few days away in Jersey. While I was there, I thought I'd take a look at the duty free fragrances at a perfumerie shop in St. Helier. Initially, the choice seemed truly mind-boggling and I didn't know where to start, but with the help of a kind shop assistant, I eventually found some fragrances I liked. One of these was Black XS EaudeToilette by PacoRabanne. It came in a box also containing a tube of Black XS shower gel and was very modestly priced at just £21.00 (UK price approx. £38.00). This seemed like an absolute bargain and although I am not a regular buyer of such products, I was very keen to try the fragrances for myself.
Today I shall be reviewing Black XS EaudeToilettespray (shown above), which, incidentally, is available in for women as well as men. You can buy it in two sizes - 50ml ...

hi everyone, I'm gonna talk to you about black xs, which i received as a present few months ago. Its an oriental woody scent.
Black xs of pacorabanne is definitely my worst perfume.!
do u remember D and G light blue?
in fact it's the same but in a little more fruity, woody and XS of amber.
The similarities are so obvious that it screams "NO CREATIVITY" !!
I also hate the green apple and strawberry scents, because i find them to chemical ( again XS)
Another con would be the amber scent which is supposed to prove manliness but doesn't at all, on the contrary gives a dirty and artificial effect not classy at all. (smells cheap)
The design of the bottle comes along to complete the logic of the picture... tattooed biceps, a bad taste, and more..

After hours (literally hours) of walking around Fenwick's perfume department, armed with about a hundred of those little bits of card they give you to spray the perfume on (which all smelt worryingly similar), I was worn to a-ravelling and was ready to either pick one almost at random or give up and go home but then suddenly I found it. This absolute diamond in the rough that was different from every other perfume in that damned place. For one thing, the bottle is gorgeous. A lovely shape and a beautiful deep purpley colour, I loved it the moment I saw it, and wanted it atop my dressing table where I could bask in it's loveliness. But it was the smell that really captivated me - modern and yet somehow classic - it was floral without being old-ladyish and fruity without it being too overt.
