...a bad product. The SkyTel 2-way pager enables people to email messages to your pager, and allows you to respond. There is a small "mouse" on the top which allows you to scroll through the alphabet to write your message. This takes a long time. It would be much quicker with a cell phone, and the same price. You certainly could NOT respond while in the car (maybe if you use some of the pre-wrtten responses like "Yes", "No", "Caught in traffic", but ...

I'd rather lose my mobile phone...

Advantages: Small, discrete, reliable
Disadvantages: Can't call back

I've been using a Hutchinson Telecom text pager for the last three years, and if it came to the crunch I'd rather lose my mobile phone. It's always on (2 x AAA batteries last about a month), very rarely is it out of range, and I can set it to vibrate or flash if I'm in a meeting. In fact I can even set it up to switch modes automatically on a timed basis, so I don't have to think about it for regular events! The pager displays 5 lines of text at ...
