avoid streamline.net

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Seems to me they behave like internet scammers

Beware of Streamline.net and read the small print. The following is based on my personal experience and I am still in dispute with this company. To begin with, I thought they were a good company providing a good vale service but they seem operate an obscure contract of automatic renewal every two years which can only be avoided if you notify them that you wish to cancel the contract before the automatic renewal date. If you forget, and this unnoticed ...
...30 day only contract. Streamline.net has been awkward and uncooperative during my dispute and has refused to provide me with any account information. Their repetitive mantra is ‘You are contractually obliged to pay us this money’. They can only be contacted in the UK using a 0844 which is a profit sharing dial code. For more information see http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=561005 It was only due to my having changed credit cards ...

easy to set up easy to use

Advantages: Good customer service and very helpful
Disadvantages: none I found

This is my experience with easyspace.co.uk Last year I needed a Server for projects I was running for several different people, Each one needed a fast web server with unlimited access and bandwidth. I was told to try easyspace.co.uk so I emailed them telling them what I wanted the server for and how it would be used to host several sites and also a file host for a family to share videos of there holiday and day trip's out. I spoke to a live support ...
...step by step advising me on everything. He was friendly and did not try to sell me anything i did not need.I know this as I have managed and owed web based servers in the past. he went threw everything and we agreed that the best one would be the starter dedicated servers as hosting the sites and file server on a virtual server would cause the other site to run slowly. After finishing my conversion with them there was a few questions i had forgot ...

Getting money back from fasthosts.co.uk

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: Will obdurately hang on to money wrongfully taken from a bank account

...- Mr Andrew Michael, CEO Fasthosts.co.uk und Herr Ralph Dommermuth, CEO United Internet AG, and all officers of the linked companies : under UK law 'where an offence occurs, all businesses are counted as one' Sirs, I received a 'phone call Friday 14/11/2008 on your behalf Mr Andrew Michael, seeking 'communication' with me. I have to assume this meant 'communication' regarding my attempts to claw back money wrongfully and continually taken, even after ...
...accounts by both streamline.net and fasthosts.co.uk - one person has been told that the communications regarding the cancellation that should have stopped the money being taken from his account was not made by him to the correct department nor in the correct manner (the person does not agree with this assessment, but how do you make progress against the obdurate?) But Distance Selling legislation is clear and distinct on this matter : the onus lies ...

Review of fasthosts.co.uk

Read the T&C

Advantages: None, after terrible experience with 1and1
Disadvantages: They renew without consent or approval

1and1 automatically renew your domain without consent or approval from the customer. Do yourself a favour and steer well clear of this company. I bought a domain name for one year and one year only. A couple of months into 'year two' I received a letter saying I owed them money for year two's registration which they had continued without my say so. I spoke to their 'customer service' (customer? service?) who eventually cancelled the account HOWEVER ...
..."It's all in the Terms and Conditions, sir". In my opinion, the way 1and1 conduct their business is immoral, shameful and utterly hateful. In my opinion, the way 1and1 conduct their business is immoral, shameful and utterly hateful. If I could give zero stars I would: **Zero stars** AVOID! ...

Review of 1 and 1 Internet Ltd

Good range from an ISP reseller

Advantages: Multiple options to suit different people. Fast technical support
Disadvantages: not as cheap as some ISPs. Expensive if you go over limit

Looking for a new ISP I had a shortlist of requirements - needs to be LLU (but not from the big companies themselves), must be around £20-30pm and must have a usuage level of at least 50GB. This limited my choices even though my local exchange has LLU from TalkTalk, Easynet, Orange and Tiscali. In the end I narrowed my choices to either Vivaciti or Xilo - both are resellers and both had very similar products using the same LLU providers at similar ...
...offered the installation for only £20+Vat on a 30 day contract, meaning if I had problems I could leave quickly. The monthly cost was also within my range at just over £25 and the account came with a 75GB limit. This was important as the LLU tail supplier Xilo use is either C&W or Tiscali (with Murphx for the backend data transfer) with Tiscali being the only choice on my exchange. I knew Tiscali retail was poor but had heard nothing bad about the ...
