1and1 automatically renew your domain without consent or approval from the customer. Do yourself a favour and steer well clear of this company. I bought a domain name for one year and one year only. A couple of months into 'year two' I received a letter saying I owed them money for year two's registration which they had continued without my say so. Disadvantages: Company sold out staff suffer

I've had nothing but trouble with this company from the word go. Maybe it's fine if you never have to speak to anyone there but invariably you do. Simple things like transferring a domain to them are an effort. Their communication is sporadic at best and mostly non-existent.
