I bought Panadol Actifast a few weeks ago, never used them before. I then became sick. These things work wanders. Each pack contains 16 capsules. These are definatly a must have, after taking these about 30mins later: 1) My headache was gone, 2) My Temperature went down 3) My cold was still there, but come on what cold disappears straight away. 4) As for my sore throat, combined with some Dequadin throat lozengers was non existent. Overpriced combination of Paracetamol and Caffeine
Advantages: Combines Paracetamol with Caffeine for fast action Disadvantages: Price
...of the most expensive was Panadol Extra (funnily enough it was also one of the most heavily advised by the shop assistants...funny that isn't it), I got an 8 tablet packet of the product for around £2 with the idea that the product was the quickest acting due to mixing caffeine with paracetamol. The idea in my head made me think “This is a pain killer with an energy boost, genius”. The product promise not only to cure headaches and migraines but ... ...bad back at work making the product perfect for me today.
As is always the case with medication read the instructions, or (if you're too busy at least read this section of the review) the product isn't to be taken if you are under 12, allergic to paracetamol or taking other paracetamol products. You should talk to your doctor before taking the product if you are pregnant, suffering with liver or kidney disease or are on other medication. However ...

A Solpadeine Addict's Tale and how I got cured
Advantages: Very effective pain relief Disadvantages: Highly addictive, use with caution
...the habit of taking 6-8 Solpadeine every day of my life, plus Syndol at night for sleep (which also contains codeine). For those unfamiliar with Solpadeine, they are an over the counter pain remedy whose active ingredients per tablet are: 500mg Paracetamol, Codeine Phosphate Hemihydrate 8mg and Caffeine 30mg. I should know, I took them for nearly 25 years, and couldn’t stop. Of course the headaches I kept getting were ‘rebound headaches’, but as ... ...‘normal person’. Indeed, on Solpadeine I was able to go on business trips abroad feeling ill because, in addition to masking pain, Solpadeine gives the body such a lift – but at a price. Of course I wanted to be free of this addiction as it was playing havoc with my stomach and liver, so I went to see several different GPs. I remember one just laughing at me as though all it took to be free was a little will-power. The most common reaction however ...

Cheap and does the trick.
Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Risk of stomach ulcers with long term use
The product is ibuprofen 200mg and you take two tablets to make the dose 400mg. If the pain is really severe you can take 3 tablets and make the dose 600mg. There are more expensive things on the market such as neurofen but you are simply paying for the brand name and it is plain and simple ibuprofen .Ibuprofen is part of a popular class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs. NSAIDs work by keeping your body from producing ... ...pain. They are coated, and easy to swallow. They cost 30p for 16 where as Neurofen can cost around £1.50 for 16. They can be used for the relief of headaches, rheumatic pain, muscular pain, backache, feverishness, migraine, period pain, dental pain and neuralgia. The most common side effects from ibuprofen are rash, ringing in the ears, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation and heartburn.Ibuprofen is best ...

Not getting what you think
Advantages: None, Disadvantages: Paying for a brand name and not receiving maximum dose.
When you read the label anadin extra, you really think your getting the maximum pain relifef and a relative got these for me as a favour when I was suffering a migraine and could not drive to get to the shop. As a nurse practitioner the first thing I did was look at the ingredients section of the packaging which states - Each tablet contains 300mg of Aspirin, 200mg of Paracetamol and 45mg of Caffeine. Take 2 tablets with a drink of water. Repeat ... ...2 tablets you would recieve 600mg of Aspirin, 400mg of Paracetamol and 90mg of Caffeine and feel you had received "anadin extra". Yet you can take 900mg of aspirin and 1g of paracetamol as standard so you are not receiving what is the normal standard dose. So is it any wonder I still had the migraine after a couple of hours. You are paying for a brand name. What I would recommend is a packet of paracetamol for 36p and a packet of aspirin for the ...
