great paint

Advantages: great coverage and choice of colours
Disadvantages: none

B&Q colour emulsion is absolutely fantastic, tey are available in a vast array of colours, there are literaly hundreds of different coloured paints all available in different shades ranging from pastels to bright and vibrant colours. It costs £9.99 for a 2.5 liter tub of this paint or £12.99 for a 5 liter tub, one 2.5 liter tub is big enough to cover a small bedroom, bathroom or kitchen. The paint is very thick so doesnt drip everywhere, goes on ...
...one coat to cover a lighter colour or a colour of the same darkness. This paint is wipeable if it gets dirty but not washable although they do the same colours in itchen and bathroom paint which is water proof so can be washed. Al of these colours are available in silk or matt finish and are fantastic to work with, ...

Wonderfully bright

Advantages: Smooth finish - colour depth
Disadvantages: cost

I have recently used Farrow and Ball for the first time in my living room, I was absolutely delighted when I discovered it only needed one coat and the paint went on like a dream. The person in the shop explained to me about the pigments they use to make their colours and it really does make the difference. I have painted some of the house in different, slightly less expensive paints and I really wish I could afford to do my whole house in F&B. I ...
...definitely worth the money and the paint goes a long way. My room has gone from a long and slightly dark room to a large, spacious light and airy lounge. The difference with other main brand paints is the depth of colour. At different times of the day the colour in the room changes slightly, it gives the room character and makes it look absolutely fabulous. ...

dulux paint

Advantages: good coverage
Disadvantages: can't think of any

I have just decorated my living room in this paint in soft truffle and truly sand colours, definitely will stick to this for decorating in the future as worked out cheaper than the cheaper paints as only needed half as much paint, gave a really good finish and came out the the colour it gave on the tin which a lon of the cheaper paints dont. Also got good deal as on offer at 3 for 2 in Homebase in Focus at present. Focus slightly cheaper at £14.99 ...

DIY'er

Advantages: Paint consistency, easy to see contrast and keep wet edge going
Disadvantages: Probably won't cover as much as stated on tin

...of the house with normal dulux white matt emulsion I was puzzled when I came to paint 2 of the bedroom ceilings. The rollered job looked awful and very patchy in both natural and artificial light despite my following the correct techniques and number of coats for new plaster (which also worked very well in other rooms). I was really baffled by the problem and read these reviews for this product of which I was previously very sceptical. Still reserving ...
...'magic' paint and I am so glad I did! This paint is so easy to use and it really does exaclty what it says on the tin. Not sure why a previous reviewer could see no contrast in colour because,m whilst it is a pale pink the contrast was was very clear to me and I painted my ceilings at 10pm in bad light with 1 light bulb. The best thing for me though was the consistency of the paint which is clever as it is not too thick as with some white emulsions ...

Worst paint I've ever used

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Expensive, too thick, difficult to apply, poor finish, needs more than one coat!

I used the magnolia Solo 'Best One Coat' and I have to say that it's the worst paint I've ever used. It's extremely thick (even after stirring) and very difficult to apply evenly with a roller. It seems to get thicker and thicker as you're using it until eventually it's like painting with glue! Despite taking great care when applying it, the finish is very poor, with visible differences in color and a strange 'plasticky' texture in places. And on ...
