Painting Miniatures blue set great resource for any model painter

Advantages: so many tips that even a experience painter would benefit from, content is tops, packaging is good
Disadvantages: camera work can be abit shaky at times

Purchased the whole set of these Painting Miniature DVDs and this is the first one i have been painting for around 5 years now and was in 2 minds if to buy this first DVD as its described as been especially good for a beginner. I was pleasantly surprised as i learnt many new things i never knew about, the fundamental techniques video shows so many little things that are very simple but they save so much time and the end product benefits from them too. I loved the bases video so many simple yet massively effective techniques. Like with all the DVDs the camera work could be abit better but these DVDs are all about content and that is top notch this DVD gets a big thumbs up from me. Review of Painting Miniatures Fundamental Techniques & Advanced Bases (DVD)

Get the Idea?

Advantages: great book
Disadvantages: none

You could be forgiven for thinking when picking up this book that it is going to be a very romantic read embellished with hearts and flowers along the way. The image of Cupid on the front cover along with references to Valentines day would lead you to this conclusion as well as the title - The Idea of Love. However, that's not what this novel is about at all and the author, Louise Dean, presents a very different idea of love indeed. I have to admit that when I started reading this book, I did not think I was going to enjoy it very much. All of the main characters appeared self-centred, shallow and extremely unsympathetic and I could not imagine that I was going to care very much about what happened. Painting Revolution..?

Advantages: It is quick.
Disadvantages: It is messy. Limited paint colours available.

At the end of last month I moved into my new house in Hertfordshire. As I am taking a few months out of the workforce, I am overseeing the ginormous amount of work that needs to be done and am personally handling the painting of just about every room in the house. With this in mind, my thoughtful husband suggested that a Dulux PaintPod roller system would make lighter of these tasks for me. The TV advertisements certainly made it seem this way and so we set off intent on making our purchase. We bought our system in Homebase for £69.99, although I think it is possible to get them a little bit cheaper elsewhere. The paint that needs to be used with the pod comes in a specially shaped plastic container.
