Review of Paiste 302 Cymbal by
Cdm
Advantages: Great value, good sound
Disadvantages: Limited range.
Paiste make a huge range of cymbals, starting with quite cheap, up to the rediculously expensive.
The 302 range is the cheapest that they sell. However, cheapness does not mean they are rubbish cymbals. Far from it. I have owned a set of Paiste 302's for about 4 years. I bought them as a set for about £140. The set comprised of 14" Hi-Hats, a 16" Crash and a 20" Ride. Also avaliable in the range is a 12" Splash, a 14" Crash, and an 18" Crash/Ride.
... ...crisp ping sound. The bell does not give a very distinct sound, it is just a bit highet pitched than the rest of the cymbal.
All of the cymbals are well made, and nicely finished. Although they are at the bottom of the Paiste range, they are still excellent. ...

Advantages: price
Disadvantages: quality
Paiste have a large range of cymbals, of which these, the 302's, are at the very bottom. They are however, reasonable quality cymbals, and still better that much of the pre-packed rubbish that comes with many kits nowadays. In general the quality is okay, not brilliant, but hey, these are entry-level cymbals and the price reflects that. I've only got a 12" splash (small crash) cymbal from this line, which only cost me around £30 several years ago. ... ...with some music, but with others just sounds too bland. It doesn't look too bad, with a 'brilliant' polished finish, but unfortunaly the branding lets anyone with a knowledge of drums know they're cheap. However, they seem to be reasonably durable and hard-wearing, as I've had my one for several years and still not cracked or bent it.
All in all reasonable quality cymbals at a very reasonable price. You get what you pay for, and for a beginner (as ...

Review of Paiste 302 Cymbal by

Advantages: small and good cymbal for beginners
Disadvantages: wishy washy sound, barely any sustain
I have had this cymbal for a year now. I loved it as a beginner but the sound is depleting and it has lost its sustain over a longer period of use.
It is an ideal cymbal for starters because it is in a lower range it is much cheaper. It will not cost the pocket of a fickle musician who may give up very soon after starting and this may induce angry parents.
I have used it for 3 gigs and although it sounds reasonably good acoustic when mic'ed up ...
