Review summary
There are better alternatives out there. Offers a very poorly thought out solution to listening to the radio in the bath.
I have always listened to music in the bath. Perhaps you could say there is nothing more dangerous, but I used to plug my stereo on and run the wire under the bathroom door to listen to my music in the bath. As it is quite a dangerous thing to do I decided to look for a better solution and I came across the Paladone Floating Mood Light Effect Duck AM/FM Bath Radio. The product is basically a rubber duck with a built in radio and mood lighting.

I love laying in the bath and having some music to listen to, calm and soothing music to help me relax. The Paladone Duck costs around £10-£12 online and is easily available, I am unsure if any high street stores sell them though. The duck does look quite cheap in the picture, but the rubber construction isn't as bad as I first expected and it is overall fairly well made. For the price I never expected surround sound perfection which was a good job really! Overall the sound is reasonable, but it won't win any competitions as it doesn't offer the clarity of non-bathtime units.

The duck takes 3 AAA batteries to power and I have only replaced them once in the few months I have owned it, so it doesn't soak up too much power when used. The mood lighing is basically a light in the duck which changes every ten seconds or so. For best effect I guess it could be used to best effect with the light off, but I don't turn the light off during a bath unlike some people!

The AM/FM radio is simple to tune to the desired channel. The radio isn't the best, and overall there are compromises to be made for a convenient product. Ultimately this is a much better idea than running a live wire on the bathroom floor, but a battery powered radio would be a better choice in hindsight, one that can be placed out of the bath!
