Prologue: I need a PDA. A lovely Personal Digital Assistant to help me sort out my day. No I don't mean some virtual reality 3D hologram of a fine female secretary (although that would be nice *hint hint*), but one of those pocket sized little buggers that can be carried around and used to sort...

I purchased my Tungsten E online from comet, i paid £138 inc delivery, the best price on the web. (Dec 2003) When it arrived i charged it for 3 hours then installed the apps from the install CD, this took about 1 hour and was fairly easy, for Outlook 2003 users you need to download a patch for...

ConsPackaging

Many of you may be wondering what a PDA actually is. Well, the best description I can come up with is that it is a 21st century filofax. However, its functions go far beyond anything a filofax could ever conjure. I received this particular PDA, PALM Tungsten E, as a birthday present. To be honest...

ProGood software base

ConsNeed extra SD card for playing MP3s

There used to be a saying in systems design circles... "choose your software first and then the hardware that runs it". It still holds true and the existing software for Palm based PDA's means there are plenty of uses for this device. Musicians and retro computer fanatics may be interested in...

“Good starter PDA”

published 05/02/2007

Pro Small, durable, stylish, cheap

Conspoor battery life, poor connectivity

I have had this PDA since June 2005 and have found it to be very durable and stylish. However, if you plan using it for MP3's dont expect a good battery life as this it will only last about 4 hours continuous play. I have dropped my Tungsten E many times, and can honestly say it is VERY DURABLE...

ConsNot much memory and low battery life

ProPrice, screen and usability

ConsNo cradle, no bluetooth and doesn't take CF cards

This is my first PDA and I'm very happy with it. It doesn't have all the whistles and bells of some ipaq's but for the price I don't miss them. The screen is excellent, MS Word and Excel documents are clear and easily modifiable. PDF's are equally clear in most conditions. The organiser functions...

The Palm Tungsten E is a great PDA solution for the money. It’s very quick and there is lots of memory for you to fill up with lots of programs or data. The best part is it’s cheap I paid £120+Vat from MicroWarehouse. The package does come with a great multi-country power adaptor and the USB...

We bought the Tungsten E for my father as a present. I considered the two Zires, but decided that the screen quality on the Tungsten E was in a different league to the basic Zire, and he wouldn't use the camera features on the advanced one. I was concerned that he wouldn't be able to sort it out...

“Great value PDA.”

published 29/10/2004

ProExcellent display

ConsNo universal cord

With a tag price of $180, this PDA is one of cheapest; the processor at 126 MHz seems to be fast enough. The next step-up models clock in at 144 MHz but It doesn’t make any difference in some of the basic applications such as taking photos and video recording. The tungsten E weighs at only 4.6 oz...
