802.11b Wirless PC lan Card

Advantages: Great wireless mobility around the home
Disadvantages: Need a 802.11b wireless router

Firstly, installing the necessary software for the card to work was a walk in the park. It helped that I already had a BT wirless router set up onto my main PC and only needed a wireless connection for my laptop. I was ready to surf in about 5 mins (it may take longer if you need to set up a wirless router as well). The card had lots of great features; the most obvious was mobility in and around the house. Secondly, the best feature was the transfer between my 2 computers. This was at a sped of about 10 MBPS (both computers need to be in the home network). After a little more exploration I set up complete home network and printed work from my laptop, downstairs, on the printer upstairs. It was such a great tool and made life a lot easier. ...

Review of Netgear MA521 802.11b Wireless PC Card

Wi-Fi on the move

Advantages: Small and powerful
Disadvantages: Sticks out the top of PDA so could easily be snapped off

I purchased this card on a well known auction site for £27.00 which I feel is excellent value considering the card also has a massive 256 mb of extra memory for storage of files and data. You have to have a PDA with SDIO (secure digital in/out) available or the card will not work. I am using the card with my Dell Axim X3 and my wireless home network which has the Belkin 802.11g wireless router. The card is rated at IEEE 802.11b which is slower than 802.11g but the difference is not noticable when using under normal conditions as web pages load very very quickly. Conguration of the card is very easy after you have installed the driver software via Active Sync from your PC to Your PDA. When you insert the card into the PDA the card automatically searches for any wireless network type signals and lists them for you so that you can pick ...

Review of SanDisk Connect 256MB + Wi-Fi SD Combination Card

I'm too fly for Wi-Fi.

Advantages: Great product, superb design, easy to setup and cheap.
Disadvantages: Slow technology, let down by wireless networking in general.

're networking over a long distance. Nowadays you can get products like flat network cable which can be easily laid under carpets, wooden floors and so on. If you're willing to spend the time and energy on a wired network, you can save yourself a lot of money and the network will ultimately be much better than wireless networks and PoE networks. .......:::: - Specification WLAN Standard :: IEEE 802.11b/g, Wi-Fi compliant Host Interface :: PCI Express Dimension :: 46.5mm x 68mm x 12mm Frequency Range :: 2.4 GHz ISM radio band Receive Sensitivity :: 802.11b: typical -80dBm at 11Mbps / 802.11g: typical -71dBm at 54Mbps Data Rates 802.11b: 1, 2, 5.5, 11Mbps :: 802.11g: 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 54Mbps Security :: WEP 64-bit and 128-bit encryption / WPA(Wi-Fi Protected Access) Operating System :: 2000/XP/XP 64bit/2003/2003 64bit/Vista 32bit ...
