Handy little thing.

Advantages: Help to keep yourself organised
Disadvantages: Batteries run down a bit quick

...good.

The Palm Pilot has loads of features on it already, including an address book, date book, and a memo pad. Although writing on such a device as this takes a bit of time to get used to, after a while you find that the technique starts to come naturally.

This model has 2mb of memory, and I have found that this is plenty of space, with room for you to add on some of the thousands of programs you can download off of ...
...enables you to ‘sync’ your Palm Pilot with your computer, creating a backup of what you have on there. You can also enter data on you PC, and the transfer this across, which can save a bit of time.

Another helpful feature is the To Do list, where you can add entrys for the tasks you need to da, priorotise them and tick them off when you have completed them.

You can also get games that you can play on it, ... more

cheap, plenty of features

...for money. The palm is a pen based system and once you have mastered the graffiti style of writing you are able to navigate the system easily. The sole problem with pen based systems and particulary with the graffiti style is mastering certain letters or just remembering them. I wouldn't buy one again

Advantages: Easy to use, easy to read, lots of functions plus downloads available
Disadvantages: Flimsy, batteries run down really quickly, the colour is a bit naff

I bought this with a view to using it instead of a diary but it really doesn't make a very good substitute. I opted for the light green version which looks cheap and nasty but it was the only colour in stock at the time. The first thing that struck me was the fact that the fold-over cover wouldn't last long - it didn't. The little stylus is a devil to get out of it's hole if you don't have nails, and easy to lose when you do manage to retrieve it. ...
...much the same as every other PDA. It is easy to use, the icons are clear to understand and there are drop down menus a la windows. There are lots of programmes available on the internet to download for it, but they tend to use up loads of memory. The 'hotsync' cradle idea is good and means that you can back it up easily. On the down side, you need to back it up regularly as it goes through batteries like there's no tomorrow. I still use a diary, ...

Well worth it.

Advantages: Inexpensive and feature packed
Disadvantages: Not upgradeable

The Palm IIIe is one of the budget range Palms, costing only a little over £100. It comes in a clear plastic case, and looks very nice! I bought it because I wanted to have a PDA, but could not afford to spend very much. Considering the price, the IIIe has a lot of features. It may only have 2Mb of memory and a monochrome screen, and the OS may not be upgrdeable, but other than that it is a regular Palm. It has the same programs as its bigger brothers, ...
...recharged when you put the Palm in the HotSynch cradle. If you are a very heavy user, you may find you spend a lot of money on batteries, but my sets last about a month, and I use my Palm quite a bit. I find 2Mb of memory is more than enough at the moment, and am very happy with my Palm. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a PDA. ...

The palm PDA's really come into their own when they are used in conjunction with the Microsoft Outlook Conduit to read your PC email offline, and reply offline. The Palm

Advantages: Great colour and comparative value for money. Rechargeable battery a big plus.
Disadvantages: Slightly bulkier than average PDA's

The Palm IIIc handheld PDA is a great help for an experienced Palmer. First off, if you must have color this is a must have for you because the color is crisp and clear. If you would like a good audio, music, sound this is probably not for you because of the high peak of the volume, very low, would be too quiet to hear in a croud of people or any place where it is noisy. If you are a first user I would suggest the Palm X, Palm IIIe they are cheap and work great! I found the unit to have excellent contrast and display. Once you are used to colour - it is difficult to go back to monochromatic displays. This is the color version of the Palm 3 and looks better and clearer for it. Memory is not upgradable and 8mb is not a huge amount. I have 3mb left and starting to worry. Bad mistake but I will cope ...

Say CHEESE to your PDA

Advantages: Fun, easy to use, compact
Disadvantages: limited function, no longer manufactured

Use your PDA as a digital camera with the Kodak PalmPix - then HotSync the pictures to your PC. Cost around £100 new, now are about £10 on ebay - which is just about what they are worth. There are two 'flavours' available, one for the 'square based' Palm III, IIIc, IIIe, IIIx, IIIxe, VII, IBM Workpad and TRGPro series machines, the other for the 'round based' M100 M500 etc The camera offers two screen resolutions; 640 x 480 and 320 x 240 pixels, bearing in mind this uses the same memory in your PDA, you probably don't want huge files anyway. Download the supplied application onto your PDA, pop a couple of AAA batteries into the camera and you are ready to take pictures in seconds. I work in IT and have to to send engineers to customers' sites. The PalmPix ideal for snapping pictures of their billings, mugshots ...

The Deluxe Is A Great Compromise

Advantages: Cheap and with decent memory
Disadvantages: Expansions are expensive and screen is black and white

I?ve been an owner of some form of hand-held computer for almost a year and a half now. I started with a Palm IIIe, which was a simple, 2Mb model with a monochrome screen. I used it almost constantly and quickly came to rely on it as a calendar, calculator, notepad, clock, entertainment tool, etc. When the Palm developed a fault, I got it repaired under warranty. When it was stood on and smashed, I was devastated. As soon as I could afford to, I replaced it. I wrestled with myself for a while as to what the replacement would be, then, foolishly, turned my back on the Palm platform and went for a Journada running Windows CE. I had the Journada only a short time before I lost it at a OpCom meet. The Journada was good in many ways, but also had it?s faults. I?ll probably review it soon, but I?m so happy with this Visor that I ...
