I am quite a disorganised person, and so a while ago, I decided to buy one of these little gadgets. The model that I bought was the Special Edition IIIe. The special edition bit means that instead of the boring grey casing, it came in a transparent case that looks pretty good.
The Palm Pilot has loads of features on it already, including an address book, date book, and a memo pad. Although writing on such a device as this takes a bit of time to get used to, after a while you find that the technique starts to come naturally.
This model has 2mb of memory, and I have found that this is plenty of space, with room for you to add on some of the thousands of programs you can download off of the Internet. To install these programs you have to use the software and HotSync cradle provided in the box, and the operation is quick and easy.
The cradle also enables you to ‘sync’ your Palm Pilot with your computer, creating a backup of what you have on there. You can also enter data on you PC, and the transfer this across, which can save a bit of time.
Another helpful feature is the To Do list, where you can add entrys for the tasks you need to da, priorotise them and tick them off when you have completed them.
You can also get games that you can play on it, which can be useful for long train journeys and the like!
The only thing that i would say is a down point is the fact that if you use it regulaly, the two AAA bateries that it runs off of can run down a bit quickly.
Overall, I would say that if you are looking for a Personal Organiser then this is an ideal option. You can pick them up new for around £100, which when considering the range of tasks you can use it for is a very fair price.
