Advantages: Its a Great Electronic Organiser - for Organising everything in your life. Disadvantages: It's battery life is very dependant on its usage. It taking it on buisiness for more than a couple of days - take the charger pack.
...the Electronic Organiser for you, Palm produce a range of products to suit all pockets with the functionality all based on what is available in the near top of the range M515.
The Palm M515 is a silver grey sexy beast, which without my life would be utter and complete chaos!

Before you all go and panic and close this web page then wander off to read about deodorant and Ford Escorts, WAIT!
Don’t be technophobes, hold steady, breath deeply, don’t panic it will be an easily read opinion full of light fact and interesting anecdote. Maybe!
Before I even start, a quick question (designed to grab your attention to read further) do you own an address book, a diary or even a small notepad?
Ok you do, doesn’t everybody I hear you jibe. But I respond:
What state are they in?
Are they dog-eared ancient documents worthy of pride and place in the British Museum?
Can you read the entries?
Do the people in the address book still exist at the addresses given, do they still exist full stop?
Is the diary really helpful, does it tap you on the head and say “ Doctors today in 15 mins – get your skates on”?
I suspect that they don’t and that is why you must read on. I am going to try and pass on the virtues of an electronic organiser called “Palm M515” It is a handheld organiser and as such it has many basic functions that will replace all of your Address Books, Diaries and notebooks. Before I start don’t believe that this is the Electronic Organiser for you, Palm produce a range of products to suit all pockets with the functionality all based on what is available in the near top of the range M515.
The Palm M515 is a silver grey sexy beast, which without my life would be utter and complete chaos!
Rather than detail a spec that will bore you to tears I shall treat you to a day in the life of the Palm m515 user, me! I have had this since October and feel qualified to take you through the pros and cons. Also rather than state the specifications of the whole damn thing I shall try and lay it on the line in layman’s terms, it’s normally the best way.
0700 hrs: I stir from my slumber to the sound of an Army Medley, I have been conscripted and sent to the Gulf, no its the Built in Alarm in the Palm, the good thing about this is that it will repeat every 9 minutes so you can snooze and you cannot disable it unless you get up and reset it. Good work you boys at Palm, of course throwing it across the room or hitting it with a hammer is not an option – not at that price!
The Palm will cost you about £250, it has come down in price since I bought it so I expect it to come down further in the months to come.
0820 hrs: I stand rocking on the Train, I check my "To Do" list and appointments for that day. I can either check them using different functions or check them together. I set another date, lunch on Friday with my Wife, its her birthday and I set a reminder to phone the Restaurant to make reservations. The Stylus that comes with the Palm is light and easy to use, you have to master a slightly different alphabet to enter details onto the screen but if you cannot remember how to do a Q, I forget often, then you open up the on display querty keyboard and tap away to your hearts content.
0900 hrs: I arrive at work and boot up my PC then connect my Palm to its Cradle it begins recharging and I complete a hot sync.
This synchronises my Office Outlook Address and appointments with what is held on my Palm. It also creates backup files of any Word Documents, PowerPoint presentations and Excel Spreadsheets that I may have worked on using the Palm.
The Palm has a TFT colour screen which has a backlight, it can hold onto its charge for about 5 days in normal operating conditions, but if you intend taking it abroad for business take the charger!
1000 hrs: My boss wants a number for a client, he has deleted it from his Outlook, I pull out my Palm, we cannot remember his name but we think that it begins with M, I do a search for everything on the Palm beginning with M, we find it, a nice tool. Well done you guys at Palm.
Of course because the Palm can sync with most popular desktop Mail products I could have got this address from my address book from my PC after all it is synced with the Palm.
1300: I work on an opinion for Ciao, I save it onto my Palm so that I can work on the document on the Train that evening.
Luckily my Purchase came with a software product called Documents To Go, this allows the transfer of Office documents to the Palm, so you can work on them remotely.
1700: Before I leave I complete a hot sync again, this adds all my appointments, alarms, addresses, to do list and documents that I have added to my PC and ensures that they are now present on my Palm. I am organised and do not have to wait to get into the office to see what waits for me.
2000: Drinks in the Pub, an old friend walks up and asks me how the kids are, I open my Palm and select the Video option and run a captured video image from my Camcorder showing my two daughters playing on the beach last summer in Lanzerotte.
These applications come bundled when you by the Palm M515 and thus allow you to be a posing bastard in whatever place that you want to be one in!
Some Basics: The Cost: £250 circa. The Processor 33mghz fast enough for an organiser. Memory 16mb enough for 10,000 addresses! With an expansion slot for a memory chip (another 16mb) that you can put your video captures, pictures or large documents on.
Some Disadvantages: This is not a handheld computer, it’s an organiser a glorified one I admit but very useful.
Advantages: I think it the Dogs Bollocks! But don’t take my word for it pop into your local Dixon’s etc, don’t but from there but at least see what the range that Palm produce and decide on what model would suite you. Have you seen the new Tungsten?
Other things worthy of mention:
If you have a suitable Mobile you can download web pages to the PDA, usefull if you are on the move.
Games: There are games that come as standard and can help pass the time.
There are many freeware and shareware products written for the Palm operating systems and they can be checked out at www.palm.com. My favourire is Chess Tiger!
Advantages: Easy to use, Small, Sleek and Smart Disadvantages: None
I purchased the Palm M515 from an ebay member through one of their auctions. Firstly I found the Ebay service exceptional, easy and understanding.
As for the product I would rate this 10 out of 10. The positive points about the product were its sleek, smart and small appearance which complimented my own look. It has a professional feel to it and can be used in any social or work environment.
The product itself comes with an interactive menu that ... ...different menus and programme the Palm device to show your favourites, just like Windows on a PC.
It comes with a standard 8mb internal memory, which I at first thought it did not sound like much as I am used to using a PC. However the programmes, games and other software that you install on the Palm are 'downsized' compared to the standard PC programmes. So 8 meg is most sufficient to start with. I still have not purchased a separate memory card ...

I got my palm as a means of quick access to documents when I’m on the go, and to review some of the work I do, and to show it to others.
Some key features of the Palm m515
* 33Mhz Motorola Dragon Ball Processor
* 4.1 operating system
* 16Mb of memory
* Colour TFT screen
* Battery life 5-6 hours
* 3 Backlight levels(off, low and high)
* Capability of some sound, adequate for midi
Programs that come supplied
* Synchronisation software

The m515 is now greatly lower in price and can be purchased for around £200. There are many other models out there. However the m515 will always be a great companion for those who need to do a bit of work on the go, or for ...

...new nfo entered on my Palm was easily downloaded to my PC.
I deliberately haven't given the technical terms mainly because I can't remember them but it did what it said on the tin. I didn't go in for video imaging; for me it was purely a business tool. A sooper dooper organiser. And I have to say some clients were very impressed when I brought it out rather than the diary or a file. It did give the impression that one was very efficient and organised ... ...nothing. When I contacted palm via their site the first response was that I was just out of the warrenty period. However I could send it to them for repair but it would cost me £110.00. I am now the not very impressed owner of a piece of palm sized metal.
I know this review isn't technical and doesn't describe rams, matrix's, hot syncs and all the rest of it but I don't understand some of these terms, and if more people were really honest neither ...

...PDAs when I bought my Palm M515, so was a bit nervous about getting it set up, but the installation disks are easy to understand and I got it working!
I love the fact I can check out Word documents and Excel files and the note function is really useful.
There is so much stuff on the web to help with this product that even a novice (me!) can work out what to do & get hold of great free stuff, too.
My one disappointment is the battery.
Sometimes ... ...when I'm miles from home on business with no charger - it dies in a day. Yet my usage is fairly constant.
Palm's response on this was that it's a "product feature" and that a "hard reset" (i.e. erasing all your data and re-installing) was the only answer. Very scary. I think it fixed it. But now it's let me down, it's hard to trust it again...
So, if you want a great PDA and are prepared to carry a charger, then this little guy may be just what ...

i have been using palm handhelds for a long time (almost three years). the first handheld i had was the palm v, and know i have bought the palm m515. ever since i bought palm v i realized that in spite of the price, it was a good investment. a lot of people told me that i was crazy buying it, because it wasn't very usefull, but now i wouldn't be able to live without it. with this "mini computer" you can practically do everything. it comes with an ... ...to transfer it to your palm and read it in your way home. you can also read your email in the palm and write new messages that will be sent when you synchronize the data with the pc. if you do not have enough with the applications that the palm brings built-in, don't worry, there are lots of applications you can buy or download from internet to install in your palm: games, photo viewers, maps, accounting, etc... through the infrared port, you will ...

Advantages: well-designed, strong infrared, very crisp, clear screen. Disadvantages: Software bundle pretty basic, screen could be bigger
Palm’s days as the king of tiny handhelds are numbered with the introduction of the Toshiba e310 Pocket PC.
Toshiba, though not that well known in this part of the world as a PDA maker (its Pocket PC models were not brought in till now), has actually been fairly innovative in its handheld designs – for example, Toshiba was the first to integrate both a CompactFlash AND Secure Digital (SD) slot in its Pocket PCs; the first to introduce an XScale processor handheld; and the first to offer a 4in LCD screen in a Pocket PC (the largest right now is 3.8in).
Now, the company has taken the crown for the thinnest Pocket PC around. The e310 is amazingly thin – in fact, it’s about as thin as a Palmm515, but about half an inch longer.
If you think that’s not something, chew on this – the e310 has a 240 x 320 pixel screen and all the bells ...
Advantages: SImple installation; easy access to common Palm apps and functions Disadvantages: Universal connector now superseded; fitting sometimes tricky
the keyboard. The connector cover pulls away to reveal the connector, which fits Palm models with the Universal connector (Palm i705, Palmm125, Palmm130, Palmm500, Palmm505, Palmm515, Tungsten C, Tungsten E, Tungsten T, Tungsten T2, Tungsten T3, Tungsten W, Zire 71). I used it with a Tungsten T.
The underside of the connector cover flips up to become a rest for your Palm device. To attach the keyboard place the connectors together gently. This was fiddly at first as the connecting hooks are very tiny but eventually I got the hang of it. To detach, rock the device forward gently. Again, this takes some getting used to, but I can do it quite easily now.
To fold it up again, slide the black plastic back into place, release the locking tab on the upper right side, tug slightly at the right side till it lifts off, then push it to the left ...

, and you also wanted a GPS, they're the best choice. Price from about 300?(200 pounds)
Why did you buy the Acer?
In my case, my first idea was to add a GPS receiver to my old PalmM515. I didn't want to pay a lot, so my first choice was a cable GPS. Unfortunately, most I've found needed external power, so they're not useful in the motorbike or for trekking.. The M515 don't have bluetooth (too old), so bluetooth receivers were discarded too. The M515 only have one SD memory slot, so I couldn't have a card-type GPS and memory, so it were discarded, also.
Two months ago I found two PDAs with a built-in GPS for a very interesting price, 300? (200 ponds). The Airis 509 and this Acer N35. After reading a lot of forum about GPS and PDAs, I found that both models were more or less the same quality, and their processor were similar in power. I ...
