I am not a gadget person but keen to use those pieces of technology that aid the efficient running of my business. My brother and business partner loves them and bought his first PDA last year. It was a cheap verson and in a sale; £24.99 I think. Also rather basic when compared to mine with regard to what it can do. That is if mine was working. So that was my Christmas present because, as he pointed out, a PDA is a boon and you can forget the filo, notebook, diary whatever, because everything you need is in the pam of your hand. It was easy to set up and enter information although time consuming; it most certainly does take a lot longer than writing it in a book. But once done that's it. To begin with I did find it marvellous. All my contacts, notes, appointments made and being made all there at a glance. It was especially useful when out of the office. I used to sync it at the end of the working day so all info such as spreadsheets worked on during the day, new appointments etc were all updated. Similarly any new nfo entered on my Palm was easily downloaded to my PC.
I deliberately haven't given the technical terms mainly because I can't remember them but it did what it said on the tin. I didn't go in for video imaging; for me it was purely a business tool. A sooper dooper organiser. And I have to say some clients were very impressed when I brought it out rather than the diary or a file. It did give the impression that one was very efficient and organised and that inspires confidence. Unfortunately, after about two months the screen would suddenly fade-out. At first it always came back up but gradually the fade-out time lengthened. If I was with a client, or more important a potential client, it was both inconvenient and embarrassing and I started to carry back-up hard copy which rather defeated the object. When I looked on Palm's knowledge base It advised one to re-set using the re-set tool. I thought "I haven't go one of those" but reading on I discover they mean a paper clip. You bend it open and then poke the end through the re-set hole in the back of the Palm. A tad basic perhaps but it worked so I took back my uncharitable thoughts. Regretably it all started to fade-out again after about two weeks. I re-set it again and also, thinking it might be the contrast, and mentioned on the knowledge base as a possible cause, tapped the screen as advised. In fact I tapped it until my hand went dead. After that it worked intermittantly for a few days then nothing. When I contacted palm via their site the first response was that I was just out of the warrenty period. However I could send it to them for repair but it would cost me £110.00. I am now the not very impressed owner of a piece of palm sized metal. I know this review isn't technical and doesn't describe rams, matrix's, hot syncs and all the rest of it but I don't understand some of these terms, and if more people were really honest neither do they. I'm a busy business woman and when I, or in this case somebody else, spends good money on a product I expect it to work. Failure has caused me considerable inconvience, valuable time and no little embarrassment. Perhaps I just got what the car industry calls " a friday night job" but it has put me off buying another PDA, and if I was it would not be from this maker. Sorry to sound so negative and I know the other reviews have been good but this has been my experience .

Advantages: It has pretty nice display, i can't say much but - "It's a Nostalgy". Disadvantages: I doesn't have great sound, and it's battary was never enough for me.
