I have the Treo 600 for over a year now, having upgraded from older Treo 300. I needed a Phone + Palm combined (ease of carrying single item and easy transfer between the 2 is invaluable) and decided this was best model overall. Previous makers Handspring now taken over by Palm (known as palmOne now)
As a Phone, it is very decent. Has a protruding aerial but do not find it troublesome. Calls are easy to make with easy access to dial pad, quick dial buttons (inc direct access to fave web pages if required), redial and all the other features u would expect a modern good phone to do. Easy use of options like copying phone numbers into contact list. Very useful dial log showing in+out calls and their durations. Reception is as good as your provider signal in area. has Speaker phone function and transferring between 2 calls is easy switch of button. You can also set pictures & ring tone to fave callers to identify then they call. This is a Quad Band phone.
As an organiser, it runs Palm OS 5.2.1. Only "complaint" may be it does not run high res graphics like latest Sony/Tungsten but this is valiant effort to preserve battery power which is well worth it (if you want fancy graphics to play games, go buy a Nokia N-Gage. BTW I have a Sega Gamegear emulator which works great on it....lovely Sonic Hedgehog 1 & 2 plays nicely). In-built RAM is 32 MB, nothing to boast about but optional (which is really essential as lots of files can be stored here) SD card addition makes that not a problem. Built-in low res camera works well and pictures taken can have files made much smaller (and stored on SD card) if used only on Palm.
In addition to routine Palm programmes, not to mention numerous you can download third-party, there is easy Email and Internet access.
This has a clever QWERTY keyboard. However, special mention must be made of 5-way navigation button which though small, becomes second nature and u will find yourself using phone/palm functions with single thumb in no time, not requiring any typing or the provided stylus. Screen is of course touch-screen like all Palms.
Overall battery power is satisfactory lasting on standby easily 5-7 days. If used a lot, esp longer phone calls, will require charging every 2-3 days. You can also buy third party USB chargers which chrages even as u Hotsync it.
Bad things? no Bluetooth (new Treo 650 has it...but honestly you don't really need it) or wi-Fi. low res camera slightly improved with Treo 650 as well with ability capture video as well there. Why should you still consider this model? well its much cheaper than the newwer 650 which if you do not need a few additional features makes this a must buy
Advantages: easy to use and full featured Disadvantages: a bit bulky
great gadget and phine too!! easy to use lots of features. ability to download software from web means you never get bored with games and a near limitless supply of applications. looks cool into the bargin!! touch screen makes operation easy and qwerty keyboard operated with thumbs great for data entry. expandable mmc menory cards great for storage add mp3 sofware and you got it all in one package from pda to phone to mp3 player with a socket for ... ...good even using the buit in speakerphone. although quite large and bulk the treo still fits in a pocket and the included case means it is quite well protected. plenty of on screen instructions make treo easy to learn how to operate but anybody who has used a touch screen organiser will find it very easy. the color screen is bright and vibrant and the camera clear and good in bright light. ...

Advantages: economical (second hand), reliable, robust, easy to use Disadvantages: If you need a camera - then look elsewhere
I have owned a couple of so-called smartphones in the past and on the whole have found them to be sadly lacking. Certain vendors try and pack in too much capability and deploy dodgy operating system software, which tends to compromise the effectiveness of the product. I remember I had a PalmTreo600 that was less than robust in the hardware department and was forever re-booting at the most inconvenient of times.
However, all that said, about 18 months ago I once again decided to make a foray into the world of smartphones. Over the coming year, I was going to be making 3 fairly extended trips to the US and Canada (2-3 weeks at a time) to attend conferences and establish a working rapport with my North American colleagues. I did not want to lug around a laptop to keep in touch with family and friends whilst I was away, so this time I ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of RIM BlackBerry 7290
Advantages: It's the new Treo 650! But it's a 680! Disadvantages: None
The Treo 680. A fantastic upgrade from the treo600 and treo 650.
Unless you are an Orange customer. I found out to my disgust that when my Treo 650 went badly wrong, Orange could no replace with another 650 nor could they upgrade me to a 680, as their agreement with Treo had ended. Sad. So did my contract with Orange.
Treo was and remains the best on the market in my mind. They pre-date the Blackberry and have always been better than any Blackberry model.
Easy to use, fast and full of so many features, you'll think it's the Sunday Times in your palm.
The Treo 680 in grey and silver - and I think there is a red version on the market, too.
Many of the original features from its old 600 and 650 predecessors are retained, such as the single switch at the top of the unit to switch the ringer on or off. Simple. And miles ...

Advantages: Stylish and user friendly Disadvantages: Stubby Arial and no bluetooth facility
My husband has been using a Palm device for a few years now along with a standard mobile phone and after he did some intensive research he discovered that Handspring have joined with palm and have brought a device out which is a combined mobile phone and PDA. With this new device called Palmone Treo600 you have the best of both worlds because it is a phone along with a PDA (personal digital assistance or hand held computer for short). We purchase the phone from Micro Warehouse for £387.74 including Vat. The phone has an address book as all phones do, but it has been integrated with the contacts part on the PDA which means when you enter details into the PDA contacts, that?s all you have to do because it links up with the phone and information you enter is in both sides. It has a Querty keyboard like a computer and if you?re not so good ...
