I was given a Palm Treo 750 as a gift from work when I asked for a replacement mobile phone and my delight turned quickly into frustration. Why anyone on Earth would want to pay £300+ for this useless piece of technology I will never know. Initial joy with a new gadget to play with and explore turned into seething rage within days.
Using the Windows platform the Treo 750 is designed to keep you in the loop 24/7 by allowing access to emails, a mobile telephone, word, excel as well as picture capture and video recording capability. Sounds impressive but the major flaw with this piece of equipment is threefold:
1-The icons are accessed using a stylus pen on the TFT touchscreen display. Great I hear you say but you have to have the eyes of a well trained sniper to actualy hit the icon you want first time and invariably you will find yourself cursing as you move back from unwanted applications to the main menu for literally another stab at getting the icon you want. Even if you hit the icons bang on in the middle it seems to always access the icon to the left! Playing around with the screen alignment doesn't help one jot. Summary = ARSE
2-Once installed onto a network emails should sync with the Treo every 15 minutes so in effect, if popular with your colleagues every 15 minutes you should be bombarded with a series of emails. This would be all very well and good if it actually worked like this but it doesn't. Only once have emails arrived without me having to do a manual reconciliation which takes an absolute age and has the effect of draining the life out of the battery. So, want to use it to access emails on the go? Tough luck.
3-The battery would stuggle to power a bike lamp for 5 minutes let alone a power hungry monster like this. The battery when fully charged lasts for in the region of 8 hours with modest usage. If you do a manual update of emails regularly you can knock this down to around 6 hours of full charge. This wouldn't be too bad if when the battery drained it was just a case of recharging but if you let the battery and reserve battery drain completely guess what? Yes, thats right, it wipes everything - your user details, the link up to your inbox, stored documents. You name and it floats off into cyberspace. Not very good if you are away from a USB charger or plug socket.
I looking for positives and this is a struggle I have to say I was quite pleased with the quality of the 1.3 megapixel camera. The pictures are clear and the colour capture is really spot on. No problems here.
In brief: Avoid like the plague and look at a more reliable business tool likle a BlackBerry or an XDA.
Advantages: IT DOES A JOB, GOOD LOOKING, SMALL. Disadvantages: MANUFACTURERS ENGINEERING PROBLEMS
Palm Treo 750? Oh what an item! Such a useful device for your pocket/handbag, whatever - Or so I thought!
I have had my Palm Treo 750 for about 8 months now but am not truly satisfied. This model cost in the range of £350.00 new. The good points are: Great mobile phone, useful diary, calender and all that you need in a "portable" office. The size is right, the feel of it is good, rounded, and comfortable to use. A good user friendly hand portable ... ...combat this problem. Now the Palm is too large to sit safely in its snug leather protective case. Oh dear!
My biggest moan and findings of many who own one of these Palm Treo 750 are the same as I have stated and they have written to Palm regarding this matter of inactive, non-working touch-screen. No replies! Palm still make and do sell this model without having dealt with the very bad problem it has. There is no known cure as far as I can discern ...

Advantages: Keyboard work flawlessly, Easy to use, Has HSDPA, Great business phone Disadvantages: Slow Operating System, Battery drains quickly, Poor camera
...and I have used the Palm before and I have been a devoted fan of the operating system. Treo 750 is a very good and practical device. Powered Samsung processor, 300MHz, for me its pretty fast for phone applications. However, the processor speed Its size, not fast enough for applications, especially those required higher speed processor such as games. Treo 750 screen resolution also too small compared to other palm based mobile phones, it has only ... ...that Palm Centro has.
What I like from this phone are
1- The keyboard works so great, very comfort, I can use the phone only with one hand. This helped me a lot when sending SMS or email. I often composing long emails by using this phones. I rarely uses the stylus to navigate the Windows interfaces because I feel so comfort controlling the phone through the keyboard.
2-Treo 750 phone is ease of use phone. The phone is well functions, I can hear ...

Advantages: One machine to carry. Quick internet access. Easy to operate Disadvantages: Lousy camera, ringtones
Having been a heavy user of palm pda's for a few years I was reluctant to part with them, however it was getting a bind carrying my mobile phone and pda around with me. I thought long and hard about the choices and decided to stick with Palm and go for the Treo750v. I sold my phone and pda on ebay and away I went. I have now used the Treo for 4 weeks and feel I made the right decision... why?
The treo if is has any fault is larger than my mobile phone and it took some getting used to the size, also I don't always get the same clarity with reception. I miss the palm os software and slowly I am now getting used to the windows mobile programme which is on the Treo.
I like the way that you can seamlessly move around the programmes.
I use the calendar, notes, tasks, word programme, internet explorer and messages on a regular basis. I ...

Advantages: Internet and email access is easy. Texting is very user friendly, quick and simple. Disadvantages: Camera resolution, no wireless connectivity, and fiddly keyboard.
A couple of months ago I was given the opportunity to acquire the PalmTreo750v from a colleague at a very low price. He already had the very handy TomTom application and due to my sat nav breaking I decided to buy it from him.
I have liked the look of the phone which comes accross as an expensive well built product and have found the software relatively easy to use due to it being Windows based just like most home computers.
As I have already said I had the Tom Tom application with the phone which has been incredibly useful however due to the phone not having GPS built in it means you also need to carry the GPS receiver with you. Also if you don't have the Tom Tom application it can cost just as much as the cheaper Tom Tom sat navs.
I have found many of the applications such as powerpoint, excel and word handy to have, however ...

Advantages: Best compromise between PDA and high-end mobile phone I've seen yet. Disadvantages: No facility to charge via mini USB cable.
Super device. Everything you would expect is present. The 750v integrates well with Microsoft Exchange/Outlook and operates in an efficient manner. The camera picture and sound quality are adequate. This device offers a good compromise between the functionality of a top-end mobile phone and a PDA. As a former Blackberry 7100v user the only features I miss are the Blackberry track wheel and the ability to charge up the device via a mini USB cable. The Blackberry however has no camera. The full QWERTY keyboard compares favourably with the BB which, on my model, used one key to represent 2 characters and one numeric. The stylus operated touch screen is responsive and the stylus fits nicely into the unit. I have a 2GByte mini SD expansion card fitted for extra capacity. The software supplied allows browsing the connected device as ...
