I am new to this, love 'gadgets' and will enjoy adding my comments. Spend a lot of time on the computer, some people think that is 'sad', however.. I do manage to work full time and do other things as well!

I have had several palms, this has made my life so much easier having the blue tooth technology.
I have purchased a 1gb memory card, which was essential to do anything worthwhile with it.
I use the palm on a daily basis for: my address book, my memos, as a notepad, for taking minutes at meeting straight into a word document, excel spread sheets and power point. I also use it for the web and email (see below)
I also have lots of photographs of the family, save to my memory card. I also have quite a few short videos.
There are so many useful programmes you can download as 'extra's' I have a theasaurus, dictionary and Agendus premier which links everything together.
I purchased a key board on ebay for less than £30, which works with the palm using infra red. As I touch type, it is fantastic to type quickly straight into my word documents. I then email them to colleagues etc. I can have minutes/notes emailed out before a meeting ends!!!
I know that blackberrys are very popular, however, I do think these are better value for money... especially if you like a seperate phone. I have purchased a small package from vodaphone which I pay for monthly as an extra with my line rental. This enables me to go on the web as well as use it for emails.
I can go on google (ideal in pub quizes!!) and even bid on ebay. I am careful not to go over the 15 mega bytes of memory transactions I am allowed each month with my package.
We go to the coast quite a lot and I am often away from home from Friday to Sunday. Now I can keep in touch with everything through my palm, where before I used to go home to lots of emails.
I can highly recommend this as a sturdy and reliable palm.
