Though the PDA generation has moved towards colour screens, removable smart cards and more processing power, the Palm Vx still functions well and is more than capable of dealing with all the daily tasks. The 8Mb size HDD stores more than enough utilities and documents for all but the hardcore gamer and overly dependant! The screen is very receptive and is easily navigated, though the contrast most be changed for different light conditions, though this is quickly accomplished. The Palm OS is excellent, categorising all programs for good accessibility, and the included docking cradle/recharger allows for easy synchronisation between your PC and the PDA, allowing you to transfer the days emails to the PDA and to view them on the go.
All in all, a good all rounder without the glizt of some of the mini-pcs now on the market. It is well worth investing in Palms small and well built fold-up keyboard as well, as it makes typing long articles much easier and gives you extra incentive to use the PDA for more tasks. Also, a padded case for the unit is wise as the screen and body work is not above getting easily scratched.
