I had received this as a gift attending a webinar on vertex. Its 11.7 x 7.5 x 1.7cm and weighs around 136g (4.8oz).
Price ***** The average price is around 299 USD. I think this is worth the price.

You can install additional expansion cards so that you can back up data, photos and video, listen to MP3s and add new applications. I must have installed the Versa Mail, otherwise you will not find some of these applications initially. Its been almost more than 6 months since I started using this PDA :)
The features which I most use and which I found most useful are the one's which I am going to highlight upon.
Contacts ********** I synchronize all my contacts details from my MS outlook by simply connecting my Zire 72 to my computer via a USB cable. The installation process is simple and the application can be installed on your PC with the installation CD which comes along with the PDA. The contact detials include the name, address, phone number, email id etc., This synchornization takes place through the Hot Sync. You just have to click on this button on the PDA and the Hot sync which would be on your task bar on the computer will start showing the synchronizing. Its fairly simple and easy to use.
Photos ******** The Camera is a powerful and is 1.2 Mega Pixel. The Photos are good and taking photos is a simple and easy. You can transfer them to your computer also. The camera is rear mounted and does not have any cover that is the only grouse. It can capture images upto 1280x920 resolution and has a 2x digital zoom. The camera can also capture videos upto 320x240 resolution with audio.
Calendar ********** I use this to keep update of things which I need to do during the day and meeting reminders etc., its very useful and handy. This again gets updated from my MS outlook when the synchronization option is selected. You can select or deselect this from the sync.
Card Info ********** This is the additional memory cards which you have inserted / installed, I first initially thought it to be the place to store your credit card information, don't be misled like me.. .:)
Bluetooth ********** This is again a powerful feature, I can transfer small files and contact information from my other bluetooth devices. Have not used this much, but have tested this with small contact information and have found it working without any problems.
Notepad ********** This is the place where you do all your scribbling etc., this again can be synchronized with your MS outlook. I have used this feature and keep it updated. I normally store all my frequently used login id's and passwords in this.
Solitaire (Games section) ********* This ofcourse is the most used feature of this PDA :)). This is the same which comes on the windows. I am not sure now whether this comes with the standard or I have installed this later from somewhere, please excuse me for that, but you now know that you have this feature / option installable on your Zire 72. :)
Voice Memo ************** You can record voice memo here. The speaker is mounted at the rear below the camera lens. The mp3's and the voice memos are quite clear and loud. IT already has the RealOne Player with it. I have used it to record my daughters voice when she was singing without her knowledge. I hear this often when i get bored :) I am sure you can find a more innovative use for this :)
Screen ******** The Screen is bright and its display is a square 320x320 pixel transflective TFT colour display and it supports over 65000 colours.
Battery Life ************ It has a 950mAH rechargeable lithium ion battery. The battery should last for one week assuming an average of 30 minutes a day usage.

...purposes. You can use the Palm Desktop supplied on a CD with the PDA or simply synchronise with Microsoft products. It’s as easy as plugging the USB cable in and pressing a button on the PDA. Far easier to set up and use than the old cradle system.
The inbuilt calendar has proved its worth on many occasions, saving me from embarrassing lapses of memory and the amazing ability of this tiny unit to read, display and allow editing of Excel format spreadsheets ... ...You can use the Palm to create audio notes or voice memo’s. Turn on, press a small button on the side and talk to it. Releasing the button stops the recording and you can play it back later at your leisure. You can do this as many times as memory allows, pressing the button creates a new recording each time. A small, easily available memory card can be fitted in order to expand the available memory of the device.

...The unit runs Palm OS Garnet (5.2.8) and has 32 megs of RAM, 24 of which are available to the user.
The unit is Bluetooth compatible and its possible to connect to the internet either via your bluetooth mobile phone or via a bluetooth dongle or accesspoint.
We found the bluetooth wireless access point to be far superior to the dongle as it gave a faster connection. The only downside is that compared to a PC the palm is relatively slow making a ... ...pictures and information from your mobile phone and you can also download digital pictures from your pc. With the accesspoint it can also be used to download your email though you need to buy a separate program to do this (there are some freeware programs but they are a bit basic)
The camera is acceptable. The colour balance is pretty poor but you can have some fun taking quite detailed pictures at a distance. It's ok for record keeping pictures ...

The Palm Zire 72, the powerful PDA for those on a budget. I use it all the time in school for keeping an eye on timetables, meetings, clubs and homeworks set. It has a simple menu system and fantastic hand writing recognition. It does truely put Pocket PC systems to shame. I borrowed an Ipaq H5555 for an evening to compare to this Palm Zire and have to say that it was slower and a lot more bulkier than the Palm. Yes it does have wi-fi but i don't ...

*32meg of on board memory - but there is an expansion slot of the SDRAM cards, mine has a 128 meg card in it and it runs beautifully with mp3's and video on it.
* Bluetooth connectivity (no wireless LAN but most phones and computers support bluetooth now anyway)
*Voice Memo
*Software: documents ... ...also fantastic support from the Palm website and some great games / utilities you can downloads. Especially if you like puzzle games.

I've had this pda for abotu a year and it is really good. It has just about everything rolled into one. It has an easy to use camera which can take pics really big, it has an mp3 and video player, you can take pictures or videos, you can record memo's have a doodle on the drawing pad, upload loads of fun games to do, use word, and make spreedsheets, and even go on the internet and check your emails. One problem i did find is that the blue paint peals ... ...scratching it off as it looked awful, but then the screen stopped working so i got another one, which is also started to chip after a while, i scratch it all of , and now i have a silver zire! but apart from the minor issue about its appearence i think it the best thing to have in ya pocket. ...

Zire72 is an excellent device with minor problems. For the price its a bargain and will ensure Palm's market share stays high.
Pro's,
1. Its a Palm, with a stable version of Palm OS.
2. Looks good and feels solid in hand.
3. Superb screen and extremely clear.
4. mp3 playback is very good.
5. Uses standard mini USB jack, not propreitary Palm connector.
6. Fast performance. Don't compare raw MHz between PDA's, this one's faster than 400MHz PPC's.
7. Available memory is a lot for a Palm.
8. Good software bundle and Bluetooth (chear up Sony Ericsson or Powerbook users)!
9. Speaker is - suprisingly - good at playing mp3's (64kpbs sounds great).
10. Camera is better than cell phone ones, 1.2 mega pixel.
11. Stylus is very ergonomic.
12. Silver looks better than blue edition, IMO.
