Bargain compared to rest

I've had my M100 for over a month now and am still only on my 2nd set of alkaline batteries despite quite heavy use of the (superb) backlight. When you think that it has the same (actually newer) OS as the Palm V and can do pretty much everything it does in a slightly larger package for half the price, you might begin to realise just how relatively cheap it is. You cant properly upgrade the OS, as in it doesnt have the Flash ROM being introduced in most Palms with which you can almost overwrite the old OS with the new. Having said that, my Palm came with V3.5.1 and I'm now on V3.5.2, all you do is install the update like any program, so it definately has a long time ahead of it.
It doesnt come with a cradle to sit in whilst connected to the computer, just the cable. This makes it cheaper, the cable is perfectly suitable (you can buy a cradle for it if you must anyway!).
The stylus, flip cover and general build arent up to Palm V standards, but I cant say that theyre bad.
One of the best things in my opinion about Palm OS in general is Grafitti. This is a way that you write on the pda as a method of data input. You learn it's writing instead of it learning yours. This sounds daunting at first but I cannot stress enough how quickly I picked it up, as would anyone. It really is that good. Once youve learned to basically write in block capitals and a few wierd symbols, you can enter text as if you were simply writing on paper neatly. Thats after 1 week! When you find yourself writing a back to front 3 instead of E on paper you'll know you've got grafitti mastered!
2Mb - a lot of people have wondered whether this is enough. I believe that most of these people are games oriented like myself. Well I have filled it and then cut back a bit (usually 3 quarters full). I think that most people wont be able to use a whole 2 Mb between syncs, as in put stuff on and when youre finished with it take it off- keep it on your computer and you can put it back on whenever you want. It's so easy to put stuff onto it as well. Download it (averge size 50k = <30secs), unzip with winzip or something and double click on it! Then when you sync it will be transferred across. Simple.
I think in conclusion its the ease of use which is the great thing about this PDA. But the other great thing is that it will go further if you ask it to. Not as far perhaps as the more expensive ones but it runs Palm OS which means youve got 10,000+ software to go through first!
