I have a keen yet objective interest in all things technological, movies, books and the arts. My friends all value my opinions in these areas so I figure why shouldn't I spread them further afield.

I was given a Palm m100handheld computer recently and I've seldom put it down since. Not only do I find this device invaluable in my job, keeping me organised, but when it comes to leisure time it pulls it's weight too (connecting to the internet for film reviews/cinema listings and SMS text messaging via infra-red connection to my mobile phone).
Now I know that this machine has been criticised for having a smaller screen than other Palms and for only having two megabytes of memory but think for a moment, by keeping the really expensive elements of a handheld computer just that little bit smaller, they have made a very attractive and effective unit affordable for a lot more people.
Also it doesn't come with a Hot Synch cradle as standard (like all the other Palms) but a Hot Synch cable instead which is useful if you don't have a lot of free desk space (a cradle can be purchased separately if you wish). You can also buy colour snap-on faceplates too if that sort of thing takes your fancy.
The screen is protected by a flip-over cover which sits flush with the back of the unit when in use (much more convenient that the Palm III's cover) but it would have been nice if it clipped into place whether open or closed to prevent it flapping about.
Two AAA batteries are what power this light yet rugged machine and, so far, I have found the battery life to be excellent.
All in all if you're looking for an affordable way of joining the growing army of PDA owners and you're not fussy about all the bells and whistles of more expensive units (bigger screens, more memory, colour displays, etc.) then this is an ideal buy.
