Review, individual experience and tips that I discovered and personally work for me on Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Scar Serum with Vitamin E:
Introduction of the product:
This is a product specially formulated to reduce the appearance of scars. It costs usually around £10.00 depending on where you are buying it from
It comes packed really neatly in a small 30ml jar with a small pump that contains a slightly yellow liquid inside.
Ingredients: Tochopheryl Acetate Theobroma Cacao(Cocoa) Seed Butter Shark Liver Oil( Secuali Lecur), Dimethicone, Alliium Cepa(Onion) Bulb Extract. All these ingredients that are known to reduce the appearance of scars combined together into a successful formula. Directions: Apply 3-4 times a day to affected area(s) and massage in.
Haw does it work?
This serum works by penetrating quickly into the skin while creating a moisture-proof barrier on top.
Does it work?
Well the bloody thing works well in time. I have a bit of small acne scarring on my face and I wanted to improve my skin texture. I have been using this product for about 5 months and I can truly say that I noticed a 40% improvement. I have been using it on and off and I did not fallow the directions that closely as I can not put in under make-up when I go out but I made sure I have some on my face before I go to bed.
Useful tips on application I found:
Well this stuff is so sticky and gooey that it does not spread so easily on the face. If -you put some olive oil (or whatever oil you prefer) between your fingers thinly and then you put the serum on your fingers where you applied the oil then it will slide easier on your face.
Extra positive things I noticed:
-one important and really positive thing I discovered is that it really does not clog my pores at all and my skin gets to breath easily. I usually have a very sensitive skin and I don't get along with many face moisturisers unless they are naturally made so I really don't know haw this serum doesn't make my pores clog as I am not an expert but all I know is that my face tolerates it so well. -a few hours after I apply it absorbs nicely into the skin and leaves my skin with an nice healthy dewy glow. -the wrinkles on the face disappear like a wander once the serum is absorbed into the skin. - when I put it on overnight in the morning my face looks so beautiful and neat with a healthy shine
Bad points:
-oh that fishy smell?! So true! It truly does smell of fish but only just a bit and then the smell fades away within 20 minutes, well either that or you get used to it. - when you apply it, does not get absorbed completely into the skin and leaves it shiny for a while. Advice: if you have a partner I would suggest you convince her/ him to use it too unless you want to repel the person like insects to patchouli. But perhaps you are lucky enough and he/ she has no sense of smell. I convinced my husband that is good for him haha, enough said! - if you are going to apply it on your face and you have oily skin I don't think you will get along with the serum as this stuff is really moisturising.
This product can be found easily at Boots, Superdrug and even some supermarkets
Advantages: reduces, even removes scars Disadvantages: not cheap, smells a bit like fish
...go as I have used Palmers cocoa butter before and I knew that worked.
The packaging.
It comes in a small glass bottle, it's really sturdy so you don't need to worry about dropping it!
It has a pump dispenser which, as the serum is so thick, can be a bit hard.
The ingredients.
The main ingredients in this are Vitamin E (1000) which are renowned for their scar reducing abillities.
The second most ingredient is Shark Liver oil, which stimulates ... ...application.
It is very thick and sticky, you only need to apply a small amount at a time as it absorbs very slowly. It's very gloopy so if you do apply too much it will just slide down.
The smell.
It contains shark liver oil, so naturally there is a fishy smell present.
It's not very strong but it is noticeable to the wearer.
Does it work?
Yes it does! I applied it 3 times a day for 3 weeks after I took the dressing off and the scar completely ...

Advantages: scars gone Disadvantages: smelly and sticky
Got your attention! Just some of the ingredients. Sounds like something a witch would add to a potion. I wonder if they added the eye of a newt as well. They don't say. But there is definitely acetate cocoa butter, dimethicone, tocopheryl and lost of vitamin E in it.
PRICE
At that point all the palmer's products were on half price offer in superdrug so it cost me £3.99. I think now it is about £8.99 in shops
PACKAGING
It comes in a 30ml glass ... ...little pump. It is then placed in cardboard (companies just love wasting trees)
WHAT IS IT LIKE
sticky yellowish fluid. Kind of reminds me of honey. Smell is a mixture of cocoa butter and onion (nice). If you ever smelled shark liver than you'll probably will be able to pick that smell out as well, as shark liver oil is one of the ingredients.
DOES IT WORK.
surprisingly YES, I used it on acne scars and it works miracles. You can see results from ...

Quick review of Palmers Scar Serum
I have been using Palmers scar serum on my forehead for four months now. i got a bad burn and had been left with a 4 cm red scar that had refused to close. I tried so many moisturisers and elizabeth arden burn cream. . It is in a small bottle but lasts a long time a bottle on my scar would last two months apply 3 times a day. it is a thick texture that feels sort of sticky and shiny and is water proof. . My scar has faded 50% and redness 80% but expect to use for many months or longer on a bad scar. there is a slight cod liver oil smell when new bottle first opened. no smell after few days. ...

Advantages: Works quite well Disadvantages: Smells TERRIBLE, Sticky
...so decided to try this Palmers Scar Serum, which is said to help combat : "scars resulting from surgery, injury, burns, acne, stretch marks, C-section, cuts, scrapes, and insect bites". It contains 5 'strong' ingredients to help reduce such marks - one of these being shark liver oil.
However, upon opening the serum, and applying some to my legs - the smell made me want to HEAVE. Quite literally. It smells like rotting fish, and to be honest - the ... ...hoping it would smell like the other products in the 'Palmers Cocoa butter' range (as it says it is under this range on the box), but it couldnt be more different to the lovely chocolatey smell of the cocoa butter moisturisers etc.
Due to the smell I couldnt even face the thought of applying any to my acne scars on my face !!
Its very sticky and definately couldnt be applied before going out ! It doesn't absorb well and almost feels greasy and ...

Quick review of Palmers Scar Serum
I haven't used this product for too long but it seems to have worked a little bit...
It is very thick and doesn't absorb very well so you can't really wear it when you're going out or anything. I put it on my face after I've had a shower.
The smell. It really isn't that noticeable at all. It's only a slight smell.
Do I recommend it? Yes. ...

The only thing i would say is that the bottle design is a bit hard, in that when you get to the end, you cant squeeze it all out, you have to keep the bottle upside down to get it all out, and the design doesnt let you do this, as it is bottom heavy, so it needs propping.
It shouldnt cost you any more than about £4.00, and Boots usually have it on offer. The Palmers range is good, but try this one first, the hard butter in a pot is tricky to rub in and stays sticky for a while. The scarserum, which is also good, smells nasty and is also very sticky. For a long term investment, this stuff is the best.
Buy it, be happy. ...
