A few years ago, in one of my lectures, we were being taught about defecation. The lecturer was saying how poor our hygiene is in the western world. We defecate, then take a piece of dry toilet paper and proceed to attempt to remove any residual faeces. What we infact do, is a very poor job, and manage to irritate our skin, while mashing around bits of excrement. We haven't got a hope in hell of removing everything without leaving any residual behind. He went on to say how people from other parts of the world, particularly Asia, can't comprehend our behaviour. Many of them use water to clean themselves, making sure that they end up completely clean.
When I was in Zanzibar a while back (which is 99% Islamic), the toilet in our hotel had a special attachment - a tube coming out of the cistern with what looked like a shower-head on the end. When you depressed the lever, it sent a jet of water out the end. This provided comedy value at first, but was of immense use when I drank some rotting mango juice and suffered the bowel consequences.
I guess you can see where my opinion is leading......
Toilet paper hasn't been around very long. It is suggested that it was invented in 1857 by an American called Joseph Coyetty. In 1880, the British Perforated Paper Company produced toilet paper in the form of pre-cut squares, to be used after defecating. But the French appear to have had the right idea, inventing the bathroom bidet in 1710 - it hasn't really become a part of all our homes in the UK, though.
Poor anal hygiene can lead to pruritis ani - an itchy anus, and it can also make you smell (wanna see a picture? go here: http://www.afraidtoask.com/bowel/pruritis.html). Just because English culture says we should only use dry toilet paper, doesn't mean you shouldn't make a change. That's where baby wipes come in.
Baby wipes combine the best of both worlds. They are wet, and they are made of cloth. You keep your hands clean while getting rid of all traces of faeces. Do an experiment - pass a motion, then wipe yourself as well as you think you can with toilet paper. Now, take a baby wipe, and you will be astonished to see that you are removing more residual faeces that you didn't even realise was there.
Pampers baby wipes are a well known make. I'm reviewing them because they were on offer. You can see them, and their range of other products at www.pampers.com. I can particularly recommend the Sensitive Pampers Baby Wipes. They are alcohol-free, and contain water and aloe.
www.pampers.com describes them as: "The real gentle cleaning for even the most sensitive skin. Because skin is one of the most receptive organs, it gets stimulated by every single touch. It is very sensitive, and therefore needs natural care especially when it comes to cleaning. New unscented Pampers Sensitive Wipes + Aloe. They are as mild as water, soft as cotton and so gentle that they are even suitable for newborns."
I particularly agree with the last bit - as mild as water and soft as cotton. They certainly feel that way! They are also good as they are unscented, so you won't end up smelling like a perfumerie.
Pampers products are made by the Procter and Gamble company, and produce in the UK is manufactured in the EU (my particular packet was made in Spain - just incase you were wondering). The sensitive baby wipes have been clinically tested and proven to gently clean even sensitive skin (according to the packet).
You don't have to use Pampers, any make will do, but as this category is about Pampers, here are the types available, and the prices (as sold at www.wellbeing.com aka Boots):
As you can see, the sensitive skin Pampers wipes work out a little more expensive than the regular type. The refill packs come without a hard box, but they have an easily re-sealable top to the packet. The soft packets also have the advantage of fitting in ladies' handbags.
At the time of writing, Boots have another offer on, but this is on their own brand of baby wipe - £2.10 for 80 wipes. This offer is buy one, get one free, so you are well advised to buy this product at the time being. The offers are continually rotating and Pampers is sure to be back on offer soon!
They do work out quite expensive, but by only buying them when on offer, and using them in combination with regualar toilet paper, they are well worth the money!
Although not designed for adult use in such a way, if you'd use them on a baby's bottom, then surely it's okay to use them on your bottom. The responsibility is yours, especially if you decide to flush them down the toilet and block your drains (this hasn't happened to me yet). You could opt for a flushable wet toilet tissue, but this never seems to be on offer, and is far more expensive.
...just bought a pack of Pampers baby wipes at an outrageous price of £2.99 from our local garage. Well for that price I had hoped it would have been certainly worth it, but I was going to find out how wrong I was.
You see I’m an Asda girl and normally go for the fragrance free Asda baby wipes and they work brilliantly. So for a top brand such as Pampers, I was expecting greatness.
THE PACKAGING
The vibrant green chunky package had the Pampers logo ... ...was. Next to that was a cute picture of a mother holding her darling little baby.
On the front and side of the packaging was a cute picture of either a duck or a teddy bear that informed you that this pack of baby wipes holds 72. Not bad.
On the back of the packet was a complete mumble jumble of foreign languages. It’s not that I grudge that they were made for ease of everyone, but I think anyone trying to read this would get confused, (English ...

Advantages: Soft, strong and they're actually quite long! Disadvantages: Box is too bulky but the sticker doesn't stick!
"Thick moist Pampers baby wipes - with a new mild lotion to care for your baby." I was inspired to write this by an opinion I just read on Tesco Value wet wipes - the author was most displeased with that particular brand! I have tried and tested quite a range of wet wipes/baby wipes. I'd tried Huggies - was quite impressed but not enough to make them my 'regular' brand; Tesco's own (not Value) - very disappointed, they ripped with every wipe; Boots ... ...a two-for-one offer on the Pampers Baby Wipes. They're really, really soft but still strong, they smell lovely, they clean well, they do what they should! But I must admit, if you don't get these wipes with a voucher or BOGOF they are rather expensive - in Boots more so than Tesco. OK, bit of a price comparison:- Tesco: Pampers Baby wipes 72 - In a plastic tub £3.59 Pampers Baby wipes 72 - Refill £2.28 Huggies Cotton Touch Wipes 64 - Refill £2.28 ...

...seem to go back to pampers wipes. Of all the brands I’ve used, pampers wipes aren’t necessarily the thickest or the most moist but they are the best ones I’ve come across. They come in two pack sizes – packs of 80 (these are usually the refills for the tubs that you buy) and they also provide travel packs that include 24 wipes (brilliant for when you’re out and about). The packs of 80 cost around £2.99 which isn’t ... ...wipes on, I found that pampers wipes id a really good job. They were of average size for the thicker type of wipes – the smaller ones really aren’t worth the bother. The smell of these wipes isn’t in any way synthetic or ‘chemical’ as is easy to find with some brands. The smell is quite delicate and fresh – not at all overpowering. There’s nothing worse than having a smelly nappy to contend with (believe ...

...of different brands to compare Pampers to.
The first thing that attracted me to Pampers wipes was the brand. We use Pampers nappies and are extrememly happy with them. The next thing that attracted me, they were on BOGOF in Mothercare...which is always a bonus! SO...FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

Advantages: Moist, thick, sensitive, nice fragrance Disadvantages: Not bio-degradble, can be pricey
...green borders, with the name Pampers at the top, and the word sensitive across the middle. It also has a symbol declaring that the wipes contain Chamomile and Aloe. Also the wipes are made of 95% pure water, making them ultra soft and sensitive to your baby's skin. Unfortunately neither the wrapper or the wipes are bio-degradable, so they aren't that great to the environment.
I have found that these wipes retail in most stores for around 2.49 pounds ... ...on Buy-One-Get-One-Free in most shops so they are bit better value for money. You can also buy them in packs of 2 and 4, making better value for money.
*The Wipes*
The wipes are lovely and soft, and moist, but not too much so. They have a nice floral imprint on the wipes, something you don't really notice until you look thoroughly! They have a nice fragrance which is bery fresh smelling, but not over-powering. I always find as I get to the bottom ...

Huggies ? 64 Cotton-Touch wipes
I?ve defected. After using Pampersbabywipes from the birth of my daughter a couple of years ago, we recently switched to Huggies due to a distinct lack of any other wipes in our local store.
You see, as any parent will tell you, life without babywipes when you have kids is a nightmare. From wiping dirty bums, to mopping dinner off of the table, from getting freshly spilt orange off of the carpet, or dried baby sick off of the car seat, babywipes are a must have for any family.
Pampers had been our main choice following a sample that was given to us at the hospital when we changed a nappy for the first time, and seeing as Pamperwipes are almost always on a 2-for-1 special in Mothercare, we?d stuck with them. Not any longer though.
Huggies wipes come in a squidgy pack, either yellow ...

Pampers.
Nappies pads, I have changed many a nappy in my day
I still prefer terry nappies the new shaped ones are great, didn’t have them when my daughter was a baby in fact disposables had only just become available. In general they were not as good as modern ones.
At work I have used many a disposable nappy/pad.
Sleepy dormouse my daughter now has her own baby she uses real nappies most of the time using disposables when out visiting much more convenient.
Pampers nappies are one of the better types I have come across. Pampers are available in all supermarkets and chemists.
These nappies are available in a variety of sizes. Pampers also market babywipes and disposable changing mats.
Pampers are easy to put on babies. Active fit have a stretchy side.
The nappies are fixed on with sticky tab which stick to ...
