My eldest was potty trained during the day before she was two and at night about a month after she was two. I had refused to get drawn into using pull ups or easy ups (not sure what they were called then). I thought that they would feel like nappies so it would confuse her so I stayed away from them and potty training was quite simple, in fact it was easy!

My youngest was different there was no way she was ready to get rid of the nappies before she was two. As I was increasing my hours at work at the end of September I wanted her potty trained for nursery - not that it would be a problem for them, it was just how I felt she would be about 3 weeks off 2 and a half when she started.

So as I had previously kept the nappy off to see how she found it I realised that it was not going to be quite so easy second time round. I still didn't think these pull up things should be used to potty train but I realised I had to try something different this time round so against my better judgement I bought some pampers easy up pants.

As I got one out of the pack I noticed they had a picture of Bob the Builder on, I opened it out and thought it seemed thinner than a normal nappy, there was elastic around the leg holes and stretchy thin sides that can be easily ripped off.
i decided to tell my daughter that we were getting rid of her nappies and getting grown up nappies and if she needed a wee she needed to tell me and we could quickly pull them down. She seemed really excited about this and told her daddy and older sister what was going to happen - but it didn't.

In the end I picked a day when potty training was starting properly so the easy ups went on when she sat in her chair and ate or when it was sleep time. As they were only being used for a short time during the day there wasn't any leaks and at first she saved it up for when these went on so they seemed pretty good there. My daughter did ask for her grown up nappies to be put on at other times but they never were. I think she liked the fact that Bob the Builder were on them.

At night there were never any leaks and they were a lot easier to put on than normal nappies as my daughter could just step into them.

After a few days these were only used at night and when she firsts goes to bed she likes to read some books for 10 minutes or so. The potty goes in her room and she can quite easily pull them down when she needs to go and pull them back. So she does feel grown up and knows they are a bit like knickers.
In the morning I just rip the sides to take them off so I don't have to take her pyjamas fully off. They are always dry and she shouts me early morning or even in the middle of the night if she wants the toilet so she doesn't see them as a nappy (at 4 in the morning i wish she would!)

A pack of 20 juniors from Tesco costs £5.98 which is expensive if you were going to use them as normal nappies.
A box of 52 costs £11.98. Sometimes you can get them cheaper when they have an offer on.

Would I recommend easy ups - In a way I would I think they make the child feel more grown up and they are better at bedtime if they are potty trained in the day but you don't want to take chances at night. They are expensive so I wouldn't use them before I was going to try and potty train and personally I would only use them for potty training if they needed help and wasn't already telling you they had done or needed a wee etc

These sound good - i now know what they are about because i used to see the adverts and wonder how they are different from a nappy and why you would need them! Good review! Ratty :¬) xx

Woe those do seem rather expensive! But then again I've had nothing to do with nappies for a number of years, lol! Eleanor x
