Ask anyone to name a nappy brand and they'll probably say Pampers. They are one of the most well known brands on the market but are they actually as good as they claim to be? Whenever you see adverts made by Pampers they always rave about how comfortable they are and how well they fit and are leak proof but I don't think that this is entirely true.
Pampers New Baby are the smallest sized nappy Pampers make which are readily available. They are for babies sized 4-11lbs but I would dispute that! My baby was 6lb when born and the nappy completely covered her, it was so big it had to be folded in half and still looked far too big for her! If she was just 4lb I doubt that it would be fitted at all!
They are easy to fit, they fasten and secure just the same way as other disposible nappies by pulling the sticky tabs over around the legs to secure in place. They are pretty flexible so as your baby grows you can not pull them quite as far and they will still be secured in place.
They are semi-leak proof. I would say that when your baby is right in the middle range of the weight- so around 8lbs the nappies are fine, they don't leak at all unless you don't put them on correctly! once your baby starts to be more like 9-11lbs then be sure to expect lots of accidents. When my daughter weighed 9lbs I could be sure that 90% of the time the nappy would leak which would lead to all sorts of messy situations so much so that my wife ended up not really wanting to go out of the house knowing that we were due a messy nappy!
The nappy does seem to be very absorbent, it held a lot of liquid over night without ever leaking, it just appears to be the other side of things that the nappy wouldn't keep in!
The nappy seems to have a smell to it, a strange plastic-type smell which isn't very pleasant but it isn't too over powering, you can't really smell it through your baby's clothes.
They fitted quite well around her body and never gave any nappy rash which we were relieved about. They have a softer feel to them than the huggies nappies we tried and seemed to fit quite nicely around her legs and tummy. We never experienced a problem with them falling down or twisting out of place so they were very good for that side of things.
Pampers are readily available in so many shops, supermarkets, baby stores, chemists and online. They vary in price depending upon the place and the offer. They come in packs of 28 and 54. A packet of 54 retail at £6.99 from Boots.
I think that they are quite good value for money as they do cost similar to that of HUggies which is probably their biggest rival. It just frustrates me though that they can charge high amounts compared to supermarket own brands when they do cause little accidents and the sizing guide is only very vague, my daughter was only small yet she couldn't get in the nappies still at 11lb nor would they fit her properly until she was 7lb!
I would recommend these in terms of comfort, they definitely looked like they fitted nicely arond her legs and never left any marks on her skin. They also have a well designed packet that opens in a particular way so it's easy to get your nappies out without them all tumbling out or without you having to struggle to get them out mid-change.
I would be a bit careful about the fit though and be prepared for some leakages as your baby starts to reach the top end of this weight!

I found Huggies suited my daughter best when she was first born but from about 2 months old, Pampers suited her.

By your third baby you will have mastered the technique. Lovely pic.

Love the photo! She looks absolutely swamped by the nappy - bless her! x
If you've been using a certain size for a while and they start to leak, it's usually a sign that you need to go up to the next size (even if your baby is still within the size recommendations.)
