Summer is upon us again and both my children arrived home from school with letters requesting that each child be supplied wtih suncream for use at break times.
Due to the latest health and safety rules, the teahers are not supposed to administer the sun cream to children themselves (although I'm sure they would if a child was struggling).
For my older child, who is 7, this wasn't a problem, I simply supplied hm with a small bottle of sun lotion and made him promise to apply it every break time.
However, I had visions of my younger child of 4 years struggling with a bottle of sun lotion and ending up with more of it on her clothes and hair than on her skin. So I set off to try and find a sun screen with a more convenient applicator.
THE PRODUCT ****************** I discovered Pampers Sunnies is our local Wilkinsons store.
Sunnies are wipes which are impregnated with sun screen. They come in bright yellow packaging of the same style as a pack of baby wipes.
Each pack contains 30 wipes which is equivalent to 110 ml of suntan lotion. The lotion has a SFP factor of 30, offers UVA and UVB protection and is also water resistant. The wipes also contain Vitamin E and Provitamin B5 to keep skin soft and smooth.
CONVENIENCE ******************
The wipes are very easy to store and fit easily into a handbag (and my daughters school reading folder). They are much more portable and convenient than a bottle of sun cream.
USE *****
One wipe contained enough suncream to cover my daughters arms, legs and face. She found the wipes incredibly easy and fast to apply, with no mess. The wipes do leave a slight white colour on the skin which is helpful to show where to apply, this soaks into the skin very quickly.
COST *******
I paid £3.99 for the pack of 30 wipes, which at the time I thought was quite expensive. However, I have since seen these sold in other stores for up to £6 a pack, so I think I got a bargain. When you consider that each pack holds the equivalent of 110 ml of suntan lotion and you are paying for the convenience of use, I think that £3.99 was a good price, although I would not have paid £6 for them.
For convenience and ease of use I think these wipes are a real winner and would be invaluable for people with small babies (as is the intended market). And I can be reassured that my daughter is suitably protected from the sun while at school.
