Hello DVD Recorders - Goodbye VCR's!
Review of Panasonic DMRE55EBS by colinmilne

Advantages: Great quality recordings using the latest technology
Disadvantages: Scart advanced features may not work with all TV's

...Your VCR is on its last legs and your thinking of buying a new one. Well think again. Visit your local electrical store and you'll be in for a nasty shock. VCR's are nearly extinct. Almost overnight they're being replaced with DVD recorders such as the Panasonic DMRE55EBS. I've recently bought the DMRE55EBS and now I see why VCR's are fading fast. Let's briefly examine what this machine can do. First, it’s a DVD player, so if you're familiar with these the DMRE55EBS offers similar features. Secondly using blank DVD disks it can record your favourite TV programs, just like your existing VCR. So you see it offers the best of both technologies - in one box. But that’s understating the case by a long way as you’ll soon realise. Turning now to the specifics of the DMRE55EBS. It supports two recording formats, DVD-R and DVD-RAM. Maximum... Read review

Computer Says No
Review of Panasonic DMRE55EBS by rdobbie

Advantages: Rugged and reliable
Disadvantages: Doesn't receive digital channels! It's a dinosaur!

...What's this, then? It's a DVD recorder. Yup, in a nutshell, it records off the telly onto DVD's. I realise techno-babble is a big turn-off to most, so I'll try and keep this review in layman's terms. Anyone over 25 can probably remember the thrill of getting your first ever VHS recorder and watching a bit of television you'd recorded a few moments earlier. Well, somehow this machine recreates that thrill, and there's no disguising that 'wow' factor. But there are good reasons why I've only given this machine two stars, and later on I'll explain them. The Panasonic DMR-E55EBS will record onto two recordable media formats: DVD RAM and DVD-R (known as 'minus R', as opposed to 'plus R' which is a different format). Let me tell you a little about each, and the implications of using them on this machine. It's simple really. DVD RAM is re... Read review

Panasonic TX28PL10
Review of Panasonic TX28PL10 by 6719jason

Advantages: Widescreen, Different view modes (16.9, 4.3, panasonic auto)
Disadvantages: Size

...I currently own this widescreen tv , i find it to a great buy as you can not only control you panasonic vcr and dvd player but also change the view mode with just one button. It features 16.9 and 4.3 plus panasonic automatic which will hopefully change mode to program. It is a great buy even though it size is mind blowing. It also wieghs an aboslute ton! But as i said earlier it is a worthwhile buy that is a great alternative to plasma and HD ready tvs. You can pick one up quite cheaply and because it is panasonic you know you are getting a quailty product. Not much else i can really say really appart from the weight and the size it is a great deal.... Read review
