Introduction =========
Having had many DVD players in the past, many with recording functions, I have had lots of experience in what makes a good DVD player/recorder. However something I have never owned is a DVD recorder with an added VHS player. As we are truly well into the DVD era now I feel it is long overdue that I convert my massive video collection that I have had since I was a child to DVD disk. Considering the fact that I was planning to upgrade my DVD recorder to a higher capacity model this seemed like the perfect product for me and my home entertainment system.
Overview =======
This is a DVD / HDD Recorder that supports many disc formats and also has a progressive scan. A good feature of this machine is the 3D noise reduction that makes pictures clearer than ever. This package also includes an inbuilt Freeview tuner with recording capabilities Dolby surround sound and a handful other audio features provide great sound. This machine is super multi-format meaning it can record and play all formats even your MP3s and JPEGs compatibility from CD-R and DVD-R. A 7-day EPG guide is also included so you can time and keep track of all your recordings. The graphic user interface of this player was very easy as you would expect from a Panasonic product. Dual layer is supported along with 16-R playback. Another feature is the SD card slot which can be very useful if you know what you’re doing. This machine takes 1 second to initiate a quick start record which when you use this machine will seem much faster. The 250 GB HDD should be hard for anyone to fill in a hurry. I’ve had this machine a few months now and have not even filled half. You can record up 443 hours of video with an option for playback. Analogue and Freeview digital tuners are also included and High Definition (1080i/720p) up-scales via HDMI.
Disadvantages ============
The style of this machine I found to be a little chunky. I did have to do some slight rearranging around my home entertainment system to get this to fit. Other than that this machine did everything it should. Although it may be a bit pricey for some.
