I recently purchased one of these units in silver and have to say that my first impressions were not as good as I\'d hoped. Although it\'s really easy to operate the basic functions of this machine they have made it quite tricky to use more advanced features such as adding chapters (unless I\'m doing something completely wrong). The instruction book mentions nothing about factors that could prevent this feature from working and so I have had to admit ... ...from my Sky + box I have to record it as one long chapter and I can\'t simply skip parts.
Apart from this problem the unit is great. The sound quality and picture quality are both fantastic.
The drive on this unit does also seem quite noisy compared to other units I have seen, but only when recording a disc, playback is fine. ... more

...of worst purchases ever, the Panasonic DMR-EZ 27, is just poor quality for today's market, chapter creation is poor, the overall recording is very poor to say the least, and the menus, including the TV guide for free view, look like something from the dark ages, like the old BBC Square computers some of us had at school.
I think Panasonic have thrown this one together, the colour and design is quite nice, but I think more though should have been ...

Quick review of Panasonic DMR-EZ27EB-K
Good recorder in all DVD formats. I tend to use rewrittable discs so that they can be used again and again.
This is much cheaper than a hard-drive recorder and you can use DVDRAM discs to record a programme and than start watching from the beginning or pause live TV as on a hard-diss.
The TV menu is like the Sky menu that you can sort by Movie or entertainment etc. but unlike some freeview boxes you can not view the programme you are watching while you go into full menu mode.
The picture from the freeview decoder is excellent and easy to set-up and start recording. ...
