I bought this so that I could take it from my house to a friends house with ease because of the small size. I found that I never needed to look at the instruction manual as the DVD-LS91 was very easy to use.
The DVD-LS91 has a 9 inch screen and I have to say the picture quality is excellent, very smooth and with excellent sharpness and colours, the sound quality is also very good, the sound will not be compairable to your TV but what do you expect from the little speakers but the sound is more than adequte in terms of loudness and quality. You can tilt the screen to a variety of angles so you will always be able to see the screen clearly.
The rechargable battery lasts for 3 hours but I find that I never use the battery because the DVD-LS91 comes with an AC adaptor and this is the usual method that I use. You also have the option to connect this unit into a TV and use the dvd function off it, which can be handy if you want to view a dvd on a TV. The DVD-LS91 has all the usual features that are found on a DVD player.
You can buy portable dvd players that are cheaper than this but after looking at these they do not compair to the quality of the DVD-LS91, I suppose its like anything else in life, you get what you pay for. The picture quality on the cheaper models was no where near as sharp as the DVD-LS91 screen. I will now list the specs for the DVD-LS91, as you can see from the specs the DVD-LS91 does play Divx.

If you want an excellent portable dvd player that can be used at home or in the car (as the DVD-LS91 comes with an attachment for fastening it to a car seats headrest) then the DVD-LS91 will not dissapoint, the picture size and quality are excellent.
Advantages: Good quality screen and sound. Region-free. Disadvantages: Would have liked some longer playback time.
...Here we have the PanasonicDVD-LS91. It's a portable DVD player by the company that brought the public the first ever portable DVD player a few years back. I guess the real question is then…how much an improvement is the LS91 on their previous efforts, and indeed the competition in this highly competitive market ?
Well I always like to start with the appearance. This is a small device, silver in colour that has a 9in LCD screen. That in itself makes it attractive and quite at home on the back of a car seat. The screen itself is a widescreen display too which is vital for people intending on viewing dvds filmed in the 16:9 ratio (can result in massive borders on a non-widescreen).
Something that some people may not consider is that most people see in widescreen format too. Think about it. You can generally see more to the left...

...no problems there. I've operated it in the dark. I found the screen to be in perfect colour balance already, although it can be adjusted as necessary.
Discs that can be played
It has multi-format playback for DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, -RW/+RW/-R/+R, CD, CD-R/RW and HighMAT and also has DivX playback (although I'm afraid I have no idea what this means). I haven't used it for anything but DVDs and am not likely to, so I can't comment on the other uses.
Using in a car
Panasonic portable DVD players are apparently the best for in-car use. I've only used it the once, but it was very easy to set up. The player comes with a headrest mounting bracket, which was easy to set up in the car - although I would recommend that parents don't leave their children to do it because it is probably a bit to fiddly for little hands. I had absolutely no problem...
