Manufacturer's product description
The VDR-D50EB-S records directly onto DVD discs. It features Panasonic's Advanced O.I.S., an optical image stabilizer that's about eight times more effective than previous systems. Detecting and correcting handshake around 4,000 times per second, this high-performance system supresses even tiny amounts of blurring caused by handshake. The VDR-D50EB-S also boasts a powerful 42x optical zoom lens, yet is still conveniently compact and lightweight.
Advantages: Best value for money QUALITY Video + Great Price = Value Disadvantages: Software is not the best out there. But you can use windows movie maker easyly
...The Panasonic NV-GS180... Having a 3CCD camcorder is the best thing in the camcorder world. 3CCD is the technology used in news/TV cameras to give you that crystal clear cut video!!! And i must say, this camera is the best i have seen around, for the price as well as the quality.
It has plenty of functions to fiddle around with, but the end all is that the video quality is fantastic and i reccomend anyone starting off from making their own home videos, to videoing as a hobby (Youtube), this is the best camera you can use. Its the best value for money as its not expensive at all compared to other 3CCD cameras which range to £1000 and more easyly!
Panasonic have been able to cut the costs down due to the fact that it uses DV cassettes. Which are more reliable in terms of not getting damaged that easyly.
The software (pinnacle...

Advantages: Small, light, easy to use, brilliant quality Disadvantages: DV's are more hassle (and more expensive) than Hard Drives
...This Video Camera is the best that I have ever used, and certainly the best I've ever owned! The 3CCD technology is superb, providing amazing clarity, to the extent that if you use it correctly (a tripod is required for the best results, despite the anti-shake technology being significantly better than other models I've used) it will look
just as good as TV quality!
The list of features is reasonably restricted, but for the average user this just means that the menus are small and easy to navigate, and for the fantastic price that you pay for it, the features are impressive indeed.
The only thing that it lacks is a hard drive, as messing about with DV tapes (despite them being much better than dvd's and the old style tapes) is really annoying - so a hard drive recording facility would be the icing on the cake.

This isn’t the first video camera we have had; it is a replacement for a 15 year old Panasonic (which still works by the way) which weighs 10 times as much and is probably 10 times as big and uses the record onto videocassette method of storage!
