• An Over-View and The Technical Stuff • Standby Time - 190 Hours Talk Time - 390 Mins
What this means is that you get 2/3 days of light usage before having to re-charge (a task that takes little more than an hour.
In summary the main attractive features include a full colour screen, WAP and polyphonic ring tones. It also has a very handy joy-stick control for navigation (A+ for this feature). Compared to the brick I used to own, at 81g this phone does not pull my trousers down when I carry it around in my pocket.
• The Look • (9/10) This is a silver handset which looks fairly stylish. There is a changeable transparent back, in which you can insert any of the 6 free inserts or creature your own to personalise the phone. Some may find this a bit tacky especially as this bit gets easily scratched. You cannot however, change the front facia.
• The Screen • (10/10) This is full-colour and very clear. You can adjust the contrast, but the default setting works fine for me. You can choose from 7 different colour themes, select from 18 screen saver animations(or download your own); and if that’s not enough you can also select from 2 power-up animations. The resolution is fairly high (equivalent to VGA standard) and the menus are akin to the Windows GUI with scroll bars, option buttons and the like. The menus are colour icon driven and easy to navigate.
• The Polyphonic Ring Tones • 9/10
You can select from 22 pre-loaded polyphonic ring tones or download your own from the internet or by WAP. Furthermore, you can create your own, although these are not polyphonic and the composing utility is rather difficult to get to grips with. If this wasn’t enough the phone can also be set with a different ring tone for each different type of call (voice, fax, data, text message and voice mail). There is also the silent vibration mode. All of these are downloadable (EMS/SMS) options and be stored in separate media folders and later sent as attachments to text messages.
• Making / Receiving Calls • 10/10
This is easy and the voice quality is excellent. Dialling is convenient as the keys are well-spaced and not too small. There is a hand re-dial facility along with caller identification, call barring and voice dialling. Considering the limitations of voice recognition, this feature works well, but can take a while to set up and use if there is any background noise. Call can also be divert to another number or voice mail if required.
• The Phone Book • 10/10
The phone book can store up to 300 entries split 100 on the SIM card and 200 in the phone’s internal memory. These can be grouped together and each group can have a different ring tone and animation, making it easier to distinguish who’s calling. Navigation and set up here is easy.
• The Applications • 7/10
The phone comes with the standard applications: clock/alarm, calendar/scheduler, calculator, and currency Exchange rate converter. These features are all akin to the standard found on most phones these days, except that the calculator is much easier to use than other mobiles as the joystick performs the operations prompted by helpful screen displays.
There is also a built-in modem and WAP, although this seems rather slow.
The phone also provides control over restricting the amount of airtime the user can use.
• Texting • 10/10
This is fairly standard with T9 predictive texting, normal, Greek and extended text modes and a very helpful QWERTY keypad controlled by the joystick. You can also cut/copy and paste text, add media attachments, chat SMS or do cell broadcasts. You can also set up recipient groups to send the messages to specific groups of people.
• Advanced Call Options • 10/10
The phone permits call holding, call waiting and conference (multiple callers at once). Calls can be transfered to another number and recorded too!
• The Games • 6/10
The phone has 2 games, which demonstrate the colour display and polyphonic speakers to the full, but this is where the multi-media nature of the phone falls down. The two games are called Atum and Kimang. There are hard and puzzle-natured. Atum involves making various atom shapes fit into the screen area, whilst Kimang is a bit like pinball. You cannot download new games. Overall this is a superb phone, functionality is great and the colour screen and polyphonic ring tones superb. The navigation is simple the joystick genius. The keys are the right size and easy to use. There is a handy earphone socket for hands-free usage, although the phone’s speaker copes well with out it. The phone’s size and ergonomic design fits easily and comfortably in the hand and is very lightweight. Although there is no bluetooth, infra-red port, MMS, only 2 games and no camera, the phone is definitely recommended.
I am on Virgin Pay as you Go, and find the charges quite reasonable with calls charged at 15p per minute for the first 5 mins of the day, then 5p per minute thereafter. Text messages start a 3p per message. The reception is rather good whereever I go.
You can also set up text alerts from the Free Virgin Extras facility at www.virgin.com/mobile/xtras for football alerts, singles chart positions etc.
To use the phone abroad, you need to pay monthly by direct debit, although you still not pay any line rental, but do get an itemized bill.
You can also log on to www.panasonicbox.com to access further downloadable animations/ring tones for your phone.
One downside that I have discovered is that it takes an inordinate amount of time to "boot-up", so long in fact that you try it again and sometimes think it's broken.
As I have only had the phone a while I can't comment on how well it lasts without fault.
Advantages: Lightweight,Lots Of Functions, Value for money!!! Disadvantages: That blkoody clock on clour backgrounds
After getting rather bored with my old Samsung A300 I decided it was time for something new which waste to expensive, so after a bit of shopping I bought one of these icle beasties.
The phone itself is small and thin. It is metallic silver and depending on the network the phone is on you can get different coloured covers on the front. It is nice to look at and is very light, it’s the kind of phone you can carry in your pocket and forget that you ... ...well spread out so its easy for people with chunky thumbs(like me) to text on. The phone has a little joystick which scrolls around the menus. I personally find this no problem however I do know some people who have problems with joysticks on there phones as they find the menus hard to negotiate with it.
Changeable covers are not available for this phone however there is a photo insert back which means that back of the phone is clear and you can ...

Advantages: Stores a lot of numbers, some useful services Disadvantages: Lame games, joystick can sometimes be awkard (see op)
...you are greeted with a Panasonic logo with a colour background, followed by your network logo and then a screen the time in the middle, power in the top left, signal in the top right, and at the bottom are shortcuts to text messages, menu and phone book. If you go onto the menu there are 9 colour icons; Personalise, Phonebook, Games, Browser, Key Guard, Messages, My services, Schedule and Applications.
'Personalise' allows you change display and ... ...anything else setting-related such as sound and media.
The 'Phone Book' lets you sort your friends names and numbers into groups. You can save them onto the SIM card, but the mobile itself hold up to 300 entries. I find the mobile phonebook easy to browse through so I keep my friends in there, as the SIM phonebook comes with important information numbers stored in such as check balance and voicemail.
The 'Games' section is a let down. You would ...

Advantages: You can record your own ringtones Disadvantages: texting is a pain
So I fancied a change of phone, my motorola was beginning to look a little dated (although I loved it to bits - Timeport 250, lovely, but I digress) so off I popped to my local Carphone Warehouse. I wanted a colour screen and polyphonic ringtones (so easily pleased) and all the other fiddly bits I didn't really care about. I also didn't want a Nokia cos it's Finnish and ... well I've been to Finland and who wants to support that particular economy??!
... ...I got the gorgeous GD67. At first I was impressed at how light it was (81g), then I liked the way it felt in my hand and it fitted just perfectly in the top pocket of my fave denim jacket, my old phone stuck out a bit.(Dimensions:109 x 45 x 20 mm) Then after reading the booklet (yeah I know, I'm a saddo) I started to get excited. You can record two ringtones! I read some of the previous opinions and one of them said that the recorded ringtones are ...

Advantages: very light and easy to use Disadvantages: Not very robust
My Motorola T191 was broken (just outside the warranty) so I had to get a new phone. I browsed the various web sites….Orange, Vodaphone, Argos, index, T-Mobile, The Carphone Warehouse. I was looking for 3 main things, a phone that can hold more than 10 text messages, capacity for more than 100 phone numbers and polyphonic ringtones.
I was with T-Mobile so checked their web site first, but they had nothing affordable that I liked. I also visited ... ...remembered Virgin, after browsing for a while I found just the phone at the right price. It cost me £99.99 with £15 airtime and I am delighted with it.
You manoeuvre round the menu using a joystick, which can actually move faster than I am expecting it, shooting past the particular choice I want which can be a pain but I can live with that.
The phone is not very large and extremely light almost toy like. It’s a trendy silver and grey colour with ...

Advantages: Small and light, clear colour screen, value for money but still ground-breaking Disadvantages: Not many 'add-ons' available, WAP browser is slow
...Overall, though, I'm very pleased with this phone. Panasonic have produced a handset that's ground-breaking and intuitive, with many unusual features, for a very reasonable price. The price you'll pay is the lack of compatibility with the much more popular Nokias, but, hey, you want to stand out don't you? ...

Advantages: Value for money, colour screen, good battery life Disadvantages: Slightly larger than many new phones
This was my third attempt at buying a satisfactory phone (the previous two having been on Virgin Mobile, whose network proved highly unsatisfactory using two of this handset's rivals, the PanasonicGD67 and Motorola C350). I have overall been very pleased with my final purchase on Orange.
The phone is fairly light weight (around 100g), has a very clear 4096 colour screen with intuitively usable menus, and well spaced large buttons which make for quick texting and menu navigation without key-strike errors. It is a little larger and heavier than many similarly specified handsets but not awkwardly so. The phone has good polyphonic and standard ringtones, WAP, and GPRS (although I haven't tried this). The battery life is good (I can't verify the 13 days standby quoted in the manual but certainly I'd expect to get a week of light use ...

Advantages: small, tonns of features, media player Disadvantages: No bluetooth, lack of memory
I had the Panasonicgd67 for a while and it was no longer what I wanted as it did lack mms, full colour screen so I decided to buy a upgrade. I went to my local o2 store and had decided I wanted the Sony Ericsson T630 which was on sale for £130 but when I went to the sales assistant I was informed it was no longer in stock and showed me the Sony Ericsson K500i and told me this was the latest model as it only arrived on the day before I brought it, the original price was £150 but they sold it me for the price of the other Sony Ericsson so I decided to go ahead and buy it. The only thing I was really disappointed at was the lack of Bluetooth connectivity but I got over it.

GD67 is the mobile phone that gives you the freedom to express yourself through personalization! Its unique Image-in system enables you to have your own choice of image inside the removable transparent back cover. Simply choose a picture, such as a photograph or from a magazine, cut it to the right shape using the template provided, and insert it into the back cover.TheGD67 is the first Panasonic mobile phone with a full-color display screen, that enhances gaming, downloadable color graphics, menu navigation and the WAP browsing experience. The 16-tone polyphonic ringer produces high-quality ring tone sound. Each beat is played like a chord producing ring tones that sound even closer to the original song or tune. The GD67 supports EMS (Enhanced Message Service) for enriched text messaging. EMS allows you to add pictures, animations, sounds and formatted text to your messages. You can then exchange them with friends with EMS enabled mobile phones.
