This phone has taken control of my life now for the past two years. it has been my sidekick, my companion and my ultimate accessory! Ok, so it's just a phone, but it is the only phone I have ver really been proud to own. Let me explain why...

PERSONALITY WITH ORIGINALITY
This is a phone for those who like to be individual and like expressing it. For a start, its looks are very different from that of the ordinary old Nokias, which all look the same in my opinion! What's most original about thhis phone is that it has different colour backlights; magenta, green, orange and blue which- although is not essential in a phone- is great fun! Another thing I love about this phone is that you can programme different ringtones and pictures to appear for different callers or groups of callers. That is just another thing that is original about this phone.

FEATURES GALORE
What can I say? You'll get features galore with this phone! Apart from those I mentionned above, there are many many more to enjoy. Another fun feature for example is that you can record your own ring tone eg. a voice, some music etc etc.

On a more serious note, this phone has emailing facilties; you have to get an internet service number through ringing the Panasonic enquiries line and then you can send and receive emails.

There is also the ability to record parts of phone conversations just by pressing the "voice memo" button whilst having a conversation. This is very useful for blackmailing people with. Just simply get them to say something they don't want anyone to know, press "voice memo" and you'll have it on tape! Ha ha!

The ringtones are another feature of this phone that really stand out; you have all your usual ring rings and beep beeps, but also you have these superb harmonic tunes which you could listen to for hours (well if you're really sad like me). They're so nice to listen to that you won't want to answer the phone when it rings- you'll be too busy listening to the ringtone (again, if you're sad like me)!

Also there's the usual features such as alarm, calculator, currency converter, vibration alert, auto answer, call waiting and hold, divert.

It also has a built in handsfree facility where you can simply make it so the person is on loud speaker so you don't have to have the phone to your ear.

IT'S AN IMAGE THING
This is a very sleek and slinky phone. It is very delicate looking and has a weight to match- 75 grams. This- at the time- was the lightest phone ever built. There's no doubt that there are now lighter phones on the market, but quite frankly, if they got any lighter and smaller they would get lost every five minutes!

This phone comes in black or silver, but is most common in silver. You even get a nice pretty picture of a parrot plastered on the screen for free if you wish! Now THAT'S value for money!

ACCESSORIES
If you are an accessories person who likes to decorate your phone with fascias with Winnie the Pooh or Purple dots and yellow flowers, this isn't the phone for you. You won't find any fascias for this phone in this country. Maybe in Japan, but not here...
You can get accessories such as car chargers and desktop chargers if you search around, but accessories for this phone- like the handset itself- are becoming increasingly rare. I would advise finding a leather case from somewhere as the phone scratches quite easily. Although this does ruin the image!

DOWNSIDES
Having a different phone from everyone else does have its disadvantages. For a start, you won't be able to find many accessories for it like all your Nokia friends will- as I mentionned above.

Another disadvantage is that it won't be easy to order ringtones and pictures for the phone if you are into all that.

The GD 92 does not receive any of those picture or clever code messages that Nokias can receive which can be a bit annoying when a friend sends you a picture text- it will just look like a load of jargon on the Panasonic GD 92.

Also, the harmonic ringtones may be nice but they are a bit quiet and you can easily miss a call if you are out in a busy place.

As for the call recording and voice ringer facilities, they would be a lot better if they were for longer than 15 seconds!

But perhaps the main downside about this phone is that it doesn't have any games! Oh no, I hear you cry! What is the point in a phone without games!? Well, let me remind you that phones were invented for the purpose of making and receiving calls and it does that perfectly! But it would be nice to have a good ol' game of 'Snake' sometimes...

Actually, that is not the biggest no no about this phone; there is one more moan- the biggest problem is that these phones are so hard to obtain these days as Panasonic stopped making them long ago. I don't know why they didn't just bring out the same phone but with a few improvements, like games and blah blah blah. It was a great phone while it lasted and could've been even greater...

OTHER THINGS YOU OUGHT TO KNOW
Hmm, what else would you want to know about this phone? Oh yes, battery life is 80 hours standby which is excellent for any phone.

Reception-wise, this is a very efficient phone. Usually it depends what network you have on the quality of the reception you receive on your handset, but I have known people who have had the same network as me and have been in the same place but I have had reception and they haven't. Must be down to the handset.

Price. You can't buy these at shop prices anymore, nor can you buy them with tariffs or contracts at discounted rates. So you'll either have to buy them from an internet site that deals in offline mobiles and prices here can range from £100 to £200 depending on how decent the company is! Second hand, they cost between £30 and £120 depending on the condition and the greed of the person selling it!

So where would you get one? Well, that's the hard part, I'm afraid! Below, you'll find some websites which supply these phones offline as you won't be able to purchase them from the shops anymore. Otherwise, you might be able to find one being sold privately on sites such as Loot or Adtrader.
Good luck and enjoy my favourite phone!
