today?s market, including a Tri-CCD sensor and a Full HD recording mode for more clarity, finer details and better colour reproduction. Thanks to its three-lens sensor, colours are processed separately for exceptional results, while a progressive resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and an O.I.S. image stabiliser, activated over 4,000 times per second, corrects the effects of blur for steady, still images. A Leica lens captures subtle nuances and colour tones, ensuring videos are as true to life as possible, and Dolby Digital surround 5.1/2-channel technology allows you to record outstanding sound. The HDR-SD9 is also equipped with face detection technology, along with automatic exposure and focus control for perfect pictures. It''s amazingly comfortable to handle and use, thanks to its intuitive shooting guide, help tools and connections system, made up of an HDMI port, a USB 2.0 port and a host of video outputs. With bags of powerful, technologically-advanced features inside its casing, the SD9 definitely won?t disappoint!

televisions and high-definition (HD) broadcasting. In line with this, manufacturers are transitioning to HD quality in all other types of video equipment too. Panasonic, consistent with its long-time position as a leader in the video field is proud to introduce an advanced full-HD 3CCD camcorder, the HDC-SD9. The HDC-SD9 offers full-HD 1920 x 1080 progressive recording (25 frames per second) to capture images with a richness and beauty simply not possible with previous consumer camcorders. Users can record motion images with the kind of film-like quality enjoyed in movies at the cinema. Even though there is a natural conflict between high image quality and a high compression ratio, the 17-Mbps bit rate of the HDC-SD9 gives superb image quality and motion response, while its high compression ratio enables one full hour of recording onto a 4-GB SD Memory Card (in HX mode) at full-HD resolution. The model also introduces such features as Face Detection and the Intelligent Shooting Guide, which make it easier to capture mistake-free shots. It also offers Panasonic's original 3CCD camera system, Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), and a Leica Dicomar lens - three technologies that team up to deliver full-HD images of exquisite beauty. Viewed on today's high-quality large-screen TVs, video clips shot with the HDC-SD9 are simply breathtaking, with vivid coloring, intricate detail and exceptional clarity.
Unlike many tiny camcorders, the SD9 doesn't come with a miniature battery enclosed in the chassis, with no longer-life options. Instead, a decent 1,320mAh unit is supplied as standard, which will be enough for over an hour of recording; up to nearly two hours depending on usage. This fits neatly onto the back of the camcorder, but you can replace it with a long-life version instead, with options up to a whopping 5,800mAh, which will give you between ... ...After extensive usage, particularly in low light, we remain quite impressed with the SD9's video quality. The footage does get quite grainy as the light drops below the equivalent of a living room lit by a 100W bulb, although the colour is still reasonable. So here the small size of the three 1/6in CCDs can't be overcome. But for most consumer uses - such as outdoor holiday shooting or indoor events with at least some lighting - the SD9 will fit ...
