Manufacturer's product description
Panasonic printers have a long-standing reputation for exceptional price, performance, and value. The award-winning family of printers provides you with a variety of options to fit your specific requirements. Whether you're looking for a solid dot matrix, a reliable laser, a multifunction printing device or even a high-end color printer, Panasonic printers will give you years of performance and satisfaction. The Panasonic KX-P1131 printer is a 24-pin dot matrix printer that provides quality printing on multi-part forms with up to 6 parts with a dramatically lower noise level than most other dot matrix printers. The KX-P1131 also gives you the EZ Set operator panel that allows you to change printer functions quickly and easily.
Advantages: laser and duplex and compact Disadvantages: only black and white and over time develops some problems.
...The KX-P7100 made by Panasonic is a brilliant printer because it prints 14 ppm
(pages per minute) due to its laser technology and has a built in duplex system for well duplexed pages, saving money and time using only half the usual paper. But now after time the paper has began to jam, crease and fold with added lines from the toner.this may be due to the settings or it could just be general ‘wear and tear’.
For example a new toner would cost in the region of £50 and this may not even fix the problem.and if left in a cold room the paper may jam up and waste paper so it neds to be kept in a warm but not humid room(due to damness). So I think that this product would suit a office or school but not a home in a cool country or small home....

Advantages: Small,Good Text Output Disadvantages: Flimsy Trays
...I bought my Panasonic Printer because at the time it was the Editors Choice of the PCW magazine. I am a regular read of the magazine, and it hasn't told me any bad advice, so I went ahead and bought it.
Setup was very straight forward, althout the drivers look a little out dated, that includes the new drivers!
Print quality was quite good, but make it print a large black block, and you soon see that it can't keep the same shade throughout.
The Paper tray is flimsy, and holds very little paper.
However all that said, the printer is quite good, text prinouts are first rate, print speed is a decent 6ppm, and unlike my Lexmark Inkjet, it can hold the same amount of paper in the output tray, as the input tray. Not even my previous Texas Intruments Laser Printer had that.
Toner is cheap at £14 from PC world, and it lasts for 2100 pages...

Advantages: High quality, fast, easy to use,long-lasting cartridges Disadvantages: Very occasional paper jams
...a black and white printer, keep it for a few years and then replace it with a colour one when our eldest daughter got to the stage of needing one for her schoolwork.
I decided to leave my husband to it, and so off he went to PC World. An hour later. he came back with a PanasonicKX-P7100 under his arm. Well not exactly under his arm as the box was too big for that. But you know what I mean !
It cost £ 170, and he had also bought a USB cable for £ 13.99 as there wasn't one with the printer. I don't know if it is normal for a printer to come without one, or whether you always have to buy one.
INSTALLATION
*******************
Whenever we buy anything remotely connected to a computer, whether it is a printer, Broadband, monitor or the computer itself, hubby and I always install whatever is necessary together. This way if anything goes wrong...
