I bought this camera as a gift for a relative in Kenya. Upon opening the package and testing it out prior to sending it quickly became apparent what a lovely camera this is and I promptly bought 2 more, one being for myself.
The range of features is sensible and they are simple to set up and use. It is easy to flip between video and stills mode. Auto settings have never let me down and I have had great results in half light, Indoors and even taking scenery directly into the sun- the camera makes a far better job of setting itself than I can even on my DSLR.The cameras have stood up to use both here in the UK and in the heat and dust of Kenya and I have been asked to send more out! The pictures that have reached me by e mail prove that this camera performs well in bright sunlight and in semi dark houses. Battery life is excellent both over the cold British winter and in the African heat.
This has become my camera of choice for a day out walking in all weathers. If I had to find a fault then it would be that the wrist strap is a little loose and could do with a locking loop since the camera is quite compact and could slide out of cold fingers-shows how hard it is to find a fault with this camera

Panasonic have built up a fantastic reputation with their Lumix cameras, seemingly from nothing. A good first review, although the price should always get a mention in such a review - difficult to judge the value without. R.
