Forget your Fujis and Canons, this camera is awesome! Panasonic is not the first name you think of when considering a quality sub-compact camera, but bang for your buck, I think the FX07 is unbeatable. Just holding its smooth all-metal body in your hand, you know that this camera is something different. Made in Japan (not China), it oozes typical Panasonic quality and design, from the spring-loaded metal battery/memory card flap to the ergonomically-pleasing chrome buttons and knobs which work with a satisfying solid BMW-like action, this camera is both stylish and desirable.

It's not just a good-looker, however. This 7.3M pixel camera has a 28mm (35mm equivalent) wide angle lens, when most others are only 35-39mm; it has a 3.6x optical zoom instead of the usual 3x and, incredibly for a camera of this size and price, it has a real optical image stabilisation system (not one of your digital imitations!) which really works. It has an all-up weight of 160 grams and is slim enough to fit easily into a shirt top pocket. The FX07 will also record video with sound at a full 30 frames per second in 16:9 wide screen format which can then be displayed either on the camera's own 2.5 inch high-res LCD screen, or on a domestic tv using the cables provided. The camera uses SD cards (a 1GB card holds 270 high-res photos) and it will accept the next generation of high-capacity, high-speed SDHC cards.

Are there any down sides? Well, there's no optical view finder if that's important to you, and there are no shutter or aperture controls for those more advanced users who want to play. And the image quality, though good, can be beaten by the latest (and more expensive) equivalent cameras from Fuji and Canon.

In sum, this is a cracking camera for anyone who wants to take good photos but doesn't want to break the bank. It's high-spec'd, easy to use, well built, good looking, and definitely the best digital camera I have had. Enough said, go and get one!

Sorry for the rating but the review seems to have mostly product specifications which I could find anywhere if I did a Google search. I'm looking for personal opinion on how you find the camera to actually use. Let me know if you update and I'll be happy to have another look :)
