The 6.0 megapixel DMC-FX10 features a bright f/2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with 3x optical zoom. The high quality Leica DC lens carries on the proud tradition of its famous...
more...Leica brand, the German camera maker renowned for lenses that combine superb performance with compact size. Comprising seven elements in six groups, including three lenses with three aspherical surfaces, this advanced lens unit matches Leica's stringent standards and delivers an exceptional optical performance. The zoom ratio can be extended up to 4.1x in 3 megapixel resolution mode with minimal deterioration thanks to the Extra Optical Zoom. By using the central part of the CCD, this powerful zooming function allows you to easily capture and magnify distant subjects. Jitter from handshake is far and away the biggest single cause of blurry shots. Lumix cameras help solve this problems with an advanced optical image stabilizing system Panasonic's ingenious MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS). This system uses built-in gyrosensors to detect even tiny camera movement and then shifts a lens in the opposite direction to compensate, giving you sharp, clear images without deterioration. While hand-shake is the single biggest cause of blurry images, it is not the only one. Another problem is the motion blur that can occur when a subject moves as the shot is being taken, particularly common when taking pictures of sports or young children for example. In these conditions Intelligent ISO Control comes into its own. This system actually detects whether the subject is moving and, as necessary raises the ISO setting and shutter speed according to how fast the subject is moving and the light conditions. This happens automatically, so you can effortlessly shoot without the need to adjust the settings every time the conditions change.

Full review
I have owned the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX10EB-S since Christmas; it was an eagerly awaited present from my parents. I had to wait until the big day to get my hands on it as I couldn’t afford to go out and spend £150 on an item that when push comes to shove I didn’t really need.

Not being a much of a techno geek I didn’t know what to expect, all I wanted was a camera so I could take pictures at parties and start uploading photographs to my Facebook, Bebo and Profileheaven profiles cos lets face it, without pictures they do look dull. I have to say I have been delighted with the pictures produced and couldn’t recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX10EB-S more.

Good points include:

Looks really expensive
Excellent pictures – always clear with no blurring effect unless the camera is moved suddenly thanks to the image stabiliser
Large storage capacity – 30 pictures at a time without the need for a memory card
Great zoom feature – zooms to times 4 and doesn’t look bitty even at maximum zoom
Small - 9.4 x 2.4 x 5.1cm
Compact - 125g
Can record video clips
Strong flash – guaranteed to blind
Menus - easy to read and navigate
6 million megapixels

The only bad point:

Battery life – drains really quickly

If you want a pretty basic digital camera to capture those special moments forever you could do worse than taking a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX10EB-S.
