I've had this camera a couple of months, overall quality is much better than expected. Photos taken of still subjects can be exceptionable good, action shots let it down a bit. I opted for the FZ18 as I do alot of walking and this camera is much better suited than lugging a DSLR about.

Pros: Cheaper than a basic DSLR, images can be upto DSLR quality, good zoom, image stabilisation, compact (compared to DSLR), robust, iA mode (can be used as a point and click camera)

Cons: Action shots tend to be a bit blurry.

I'm no expert photographer but for the money the FZ18 is a very capable camera only let down by the blurred action shots, but I could be asking too much of the camera. Highly recommended.
