I have to say it was a dificult decision for me in buying a top of the range compact digital camera. My original idea was to replace my Nikon compact that i have had for 4 or 5 years . I have also got an SLR and all the associated lenses adaptors and all the gizmos you can think of.My aim was to buy a digi SLR to replace the 2 cameras. but as i looked into it i eventually decided that some of the bridge cameras met all my needs and i finally made the decision that i did not want to carry all those flippin lenses around.I really like taking pictures of wildlife and scenery so either i would have to buy a very expensive zoom lens or carry 2 (at least)lenses with me at all times.after studying magazines and talking to various people with top of the range digi cameras of various makes (Fuji,Samsung,kodak etc.)I decided on the FZ28.
May i say ,what a fantastic camera. I bought it with a 4gig SD card so that i could film movies if i wanted without running out of memeory.
I received it just before christmas and i have been toting it around various places ever since.I have tried as many settings as i can just to learn where everything is and the results are awesome!
I have taken a couple of hundred pictures and with the huge LCD screen you can edit pictures superbly so i only have about 100 left on the camera as i have removed the ones i did not like(just the content not anything to do with the camera, you know, pictures of feet etc.)
Whilst taking pictures at parties over christmas the results are fantastic .The faces all come out really clear and the surroundings are all detailed. Pictures of birds (feathered kind) are brilliant and always in focus.I take all my pics in the 10.1 mode and you can really enlarge the pictures with no problem.The high speed bursts are fantastic.Athough only 3.5m in this mode the pictures are far superior to my Nikon digital which was 3.1.The manual modes are to die for ,this is a feature i really wanted so i could film close up objects with as much control as possible. I love the A mode as you can control the aperture and really bring out the subject whilst pushing the background out of focus,whil;e everything else is done automatically.How many times have you carefully focused on a subject then forgotten to adjust the speed and the whole picture comes out dark. No such problems with this baby.
The intelligent auto is probably the setting anyone would use most as it produces perfect results every time with minimal effort,and i have to say I have used it more than any other setting.
believe me if you buy one of these you will never regret it. I can,t think of a photgraphic situation that you could be in ,where the FZ28 coudn,t do the job.If it was a girl i would marry it!
