USING THE CAMERA
The camera is easy to use, light and portable, and even has a 'simple' mode. I still use this after a months heavy use as it is so easy and takes good shots. The zoom is easy and selections (such as flash off) are easy. In this mode, the camera senses whether to use the flash and the ISO speed (which can go very high for a camera in this class). You can override them. You can select to add time and date and all the basic features you would expect on a modern camera.
WHY DIGITAL?
I have a trusted old point and shoot Cannon camera, but using the PC alot and emailing pictures, digital is simply easier and more modern. It also saves money in photo printing (although I definately take more pics!)
The benefits of digital cameras are that you can take many shots and see your result before choosing to buy/print photos. With a film camera, often children do not look right at the camera or a shot is blurred, out of a 24 film, you may only get a dozen good shots. With digital, you choose the ones that are good enough and are not wasting money. You can also download them onto the PC and make DVD's and slideshows. Most photo developers also print from card or CD or over the internet.
FUNCTIONS
The camera can take pictures and videos (with no sound) The images are nearly always sharp and clear and can be blown up on my 32" TV and still be clear. It is simple to switch from photo to video and playback mode. There is also a macro mode for close up shots. I have a 1GB memory SD card which I use and the camera can store about 300 photos and a several videos. The USB cable is easy to connect to PC and download the photos but the easiest way is to plug the card direct to your PC if you have a slot.
The camera also comes with a video connection, which means you can plug the camera into your TV (yellow slot) and watch a slideshow of your photos. When viewing the photos in the LCD display, you can zoom in on them and usually tell if they are sharp and delete those that are not.
RESULTS
The quality of photos is excellent for it's price, it is very reliable- I have only had a very few unclear or blurred photos. It performs equally well outiside and inside and under varying light conditions. It is small enough and light enough to carry in a handbag or large pocket. The battery life is far far better than the original digital cameras. I am very very pleased with this camera and highly recommend it.
