I bought this vacuum cleaner about 4 months ago when we got a new addition to the family - a cat! Our previous vacuum cleaner was one of these that cost about £40, and although it seemed to work ok, I was never convinced it got all the dirt!
I was attracted to this vacuum cleaner for two main reasons:
(1) 2000 watts power
(2) HEPA filtration
For £130, you get 2000 watts which seemed to be about the best you can get. You also get Hepa Filtration which was an added bonus soon as my partner was allergic to my cat! This seemed to help him a lot, and the 2000 watts meant that the cat hair would even come out of my thick rug in the living room.
The Panasonic MC-E 8035 has the following features:
2000 watts.
Variable power control.
3.5 litre dust capacity.
Dustbin full indicator.
Washable HEPA filtration.
Foot operated cord rewind and on/off control.
Includes 3 in 1 turbine nozzle, crevice nozzle and dusting brush.
On-board tool storage.
Magic telescopic metal extension tubes.
Mini turbine nozzle.
Floorhead with rotating brush bar adjusts for floor type.
Soft rollers and casters for use on hard floors.
6.5m power cord.
Weight 8.4kg.
My favourite thing about this vacuum cleaner is the adjustable floor head - this can be altered so that it works just as well on either hard flooring (we have laminate) or carpet. I also love the extending telescopic tube which is great as I am quite small so don't want a big tube, were as my partner is 6 foot so needs it fully extended.
The 6.5m power cord also means that I can plug the vacuum cleaner in behind my TV and I have enough cord to hoover the whole of my one bedroom flat without having to mess around unplugging it.
The only downside I would say about this is the fact that it can be a bit messy when you come to empty the dustbin. I do find that all the dust collected seems to end up in your face, and despite trying to pour it all directly into a bin bag, the mechanisms on the bin mean it is not simply so easy as to 'pour' the dirt out. I think this is something Panasonic could definitely improve.
For the onboard tool storage you get one that is like a brush which I use on my furniture and to get rid of the dust! Then there is another tool which is a crevice nozzle - I've never needed to use it, but I would think this is handy to have.
I also love the quirky design of this vacuum cleaner. I think its quite stylish in its own little way, and also quite small so its fits in the bottom of my airing cupboard and no one would know it ever existed.
I do however find this quite a heavy vacuum cleaner for the size of it, but I am only small and despite this I can quite easily carry it around - plus don't forget that it is on wheels so you can always just drag it behind you.
As this vacuum cleaner has variable power control, the noise levels alter accordingly. So the less power you use, the less noise it makes. I would say the noise of the vacuum cleaner is about average in comparison with other vacuum cleaners I have used.
If you need a high performance vacuum cleaner but aren't really prepared to pay out for a Dyson, then I would definitely recommend the Panasonic.
