I bought mine whilst my wife was in the early stages of labour, and busy relaxing in a hot bath. She was therefore in no fit state to stop me, and was equally unlikely to arrive at my left shoulder and tell me to put it back on the shelf.
I have subsequently used it to record 'those special moments' as my daughter grows up, although it was specifically banned from the labour-suite. The ease of use, with all controls quite literally at one's fingertips was the initial major selling point. I had tried others with which taking a still photo involved a major manipulation of the body, but had no such problems with this version. The unit is light, even with the more powerful batteries in place, and is small enough that it truely fits in the palm of the hand.
Whilst connection kits to link with a PC are prohibitively expensive, and somewhat simplistic, the interface for TV and VCR connection was simplicity itself, and gives big-screen picture far superior to those I get with my digital cable TV conncetion! Most recent computer graphics cards have TV or line-in capabilities, overcoming the problem mentioned above, and my relatives have therefore been bombarded with MPEG on CDROM for home-viewing.
A truely superb piece of technology, whose price is falling by the day. Well worth buying.
