This is a very easy camera to use and its functions are very easy to understand although they are quite basic but if your like me and don't want hundreds and thousands of little buttons flashing at you it is perfect.
Now before you ask i know this is a mini dv camera so i know its not the most recent ... ...for a high definition camera and unless your filming for amateur films or something i really cant see the need to spend that much more when mini dv is perfectly acceptable in fact is more than adequate and is excellent value for money.
For stills this camera offers 2.3 mega pixels not brilliant but if you want good stills use your digital camara!! its not what its built for.

This is a very easy camera to use and its functions are very easy to understand although they are quite basic but if your like me and don't want hundreds and thousands of little buttons flashing at you it is perfect.
Now before you ask i know this is a mini dv camera so i know its not the most recent in camera technology but i really don't feel the need for a high definition camera and unless your filming for amateur films or something i really cant see the need to spend that much more when mini dv is perfectly acceptable in fact is more than adequate and is excellent value for money.
For stills this camera offers 2.3 mega pixels not brilliant but if you want good stills use your digital camara!! its not what its built for. The camara also offers SD storage for that extra memory space which i personally find very useful.
One great feature of this cam corder is the so often over looked factor that the tape goes in on top of the camera so you don't have to keep taking it of the tripod to change tape which is always a real nuisance.
Now there are a few bad points to this camara as follows: Image stabilization is electric rather than optical although for the price paid its what is expected and is still fine especially with a tripod.
There is no lens cover instead you get a cap which i always manage to misplace
No light built in so filming in the dark is near impossible
Apart from these minor weaknesses however this is a very handy little camara and for the price you just can't go wrong you really cant.

Advantages: Accesory shoe. Big clear lcd. Ease of use. Easy navigational menu. Not heavy. Disadvantages: Short battery life, sensitive mic and shakey on zoom.
I purchased this camera 2 years ago after spending alot of time online looking at different types of camcorders. I chose to purchase a mini dv camcorder due to removable storage. I can not bare the thought of being away and not being able to film anything else due to a full hard drive. This camera caught my eye as it has 3ccd. Which means it uses 3 chips to process colours instead of one. From this you get nice bright colours and it works well in ... ...been better if it was focused more on optical zoom instead of digital (10x optical and 500x Digital) As digital zoom just stretches the pixels and not zoom in. The shape of the camera makes it very comftable to hold for extended periods of time, with also not being to heavy. The lcd screen is a nice size and it also has a colour viewfinder.
