...I was told by a Panasonic salesman. I, too, found no differences in the specifications and it was at least £100 cheaper than I could find the 'B' model for online and £550 lower than Panasonic's UK list price! Just the UK warranty is missing, but you can register online for a warranty anyway. The box includes UK, US and European power cables and an English manual, so everything really is there. I bought from eBuyer but it could now be cheaper elsewhere.
... ...outdoors in good light and is helped by the top quality Leica lens. Each CCD is larger than the single one in most consumer cameras! Colours look fantastic and detail is excellent. Even in low indoor light, the large lens and CCDs help it perform very well.
Budget moviemakers should look no further. For a film-like look, the true 16:9 widescreen mode is essential and really does widen the angle of view over the standard 4:3 ratio. No dodgy cropping ...

Manufacturer's product description
Objects of beauty have a power that goes beyond words and touches the heart. In photography, the challenge is to capture images that convey the same emotional depth. Panasonic meets this challenge with the 3CCD camera system and a host of other advanced imaging technologies that let you capture still pictures with breathtaking 4.0-megapixel resolution. With a Panasonic 3CCD camera, it's easy to capture still or moving pictures that touch the heart. And to any photographer, that's a beautiful thing. 3CCD Camera System The same system that is used in professional broadcast cameras can produce high quality pictures for you. Because the CCD (Charged Couple Device) is a key device for image quality, all professional video cameras use a 3CCD system. In this system, a prism splits the incident light into its three primary colors (red, green and blue) and each resultant color signal is collected by a separate CCD. The 3CCD system reproduces colors with exceptional fidelity and captures even subtle gradations. 4 Megapixel Still Picture Recording Density Pixel Distribution, a technology used in broadcasting, makes it possible to capture still pictures with superb megapixel quality. The tiny 2.5-micron intervals between pixels are shifted by one-half pitch both vertically and horizontally, which distributes them on the CCD with four times the density of previous systems. This lets you capture still pictures with 4-megapixel quality. Leica Dicomar Lens Delivering Leica's superior image rendering. The advanced optical technology that makes Leica Camera AG a legend in the camera world is fully reflected in the 12-element, multi-coated Leica Dicomar lens. This superb lens system eliminates unwanted reflections and reduces the flaring and ghosts that can distort images. It gives sharp definition even to the darker parts of an image, so the entire picture is clear. NEW Crystal Engine: Image Processing LSI The NEW Crystal Engine is a special new image processing circuit for 3CCD camera systems. Processing the signal from each of the three CCD's independently, it gives both moving and still pictures exceptional quality.
