...have been using the PanasonicPT AX 100E as my main TV for just over a year now. I paid £900 for it then, but the price has dropped and even the improved PT AX200 can now be bought for about £700.
The picture quality is extremely good in a dark room and quite watchable during the day even with the curtains open for all but the darkest movies. In bright conditions the colours can become a little washed-out although there are various viewing options on the remote control to compensate a little. For some very dark films however you should wait until the room can be blacked out completely. The lens is large and of very high quality with a wide ranging zoom. Many home cinema projectors have just a wide angle lens with a small amount of zoom for fine adjustment, to allow big pictures from a short distance, but are less flexible, especially...

...The PanasonicPT-AE900 projector is the latest and most impressive projector in the award winning PT-AE series. It is a true high definition progressive scan 16:9 projector with a native resolution of 1280 by 720. The on screen image can truly be described as cinema quality.

Advantages: cheap..if it had a warranty, portable Disadvantages: Warranty not honoured, bulbs blow in rapid succession
...The unit itself has a fatal flaw - its eats bulbs for breakfast !
But even more sinister is Acer's blatant non-honouring of any of the 2 year warranty that remains on the unit. After the 1st unit was replaced in the first week, almost 2 years of faithful service mine then ate 3 $230 bulbs in a month ! The first I paid for the 2nd (which died a week or so later), was covered under warranty, (which then died a few DAYS later) the third Acer tried to extrort ANOTHER $230 out of me.
I gave up and got a PanasonicPT-AX100U with 5 years warranty for $3000 which is BRILLIANT. Too bad Acer - you've had enough of my cash.
Their solution to my problems ? I could pay a 2nd amount of $234.00 for a third bulb or go to the ACCC. Nice work...no thanks.
The unit's performance whilst working was quite good but it's unmerchantable nature makes...
