Advantages: Works in relatively bright conditions, quiet Disadvantages: unreliable, very big, short bulb life
Updated review.
I have been using the PanasonicPT AX 100E as my main TV, in conjunction with a freeview box and a DVD player, for just over a year now. I paid £900 for it then, but the price has dropped and even the improved PT AX200 can now be bought for about £700. The reason for the low rating is because of it's unreliability and Panasonic's inability to fix it when it went wrong, as described below. In all other respects it is a very good projector.
The picture quality is extremely good in a dark room and quite watchable during the day even with the curtains open for all but the darkest movies. In bright conditions the colours can become a little washed-out although there are various viewing options on the remote control to compensate a little. For some very dark films however you should wait until the room can be blacked out ...
Advantages: Great Sound and picture quality Disadvantages: Only Ipod mp3 works (mainly), unclear instruction manual
I wanted an upconverting Panasonic DVD to go with my Panasonic 32lxd700 LCD, as I didn't want to pay the premium for a Blu-ray player that at present don't look, in my opinion, that much better than standard DVD's. I chose this model as it seemed good value with the extra surround-sound and MP3
capabilities.
The Good Points;
The picture is excellent. The sound is excellent, once you've worked-out the settings. It adds extra bite to the soundtrack and can make you jump out of your seat when you least suspect it.The remote is small and easy to use. It's great value, with the amount of features available.
The Annoying Points;-
The instructions are not too clear when setting the sound up i.e a few of the buttons have three different functions. Why not just add seperate buttons? If you don't have an i-pod, your mp3 might ...
Advantages: Wireless,easy to use Disadvantages: Manual could be clearer
It has outstanding picture and sound quality. It is able to create HD 1080p images from non HD sources so it really boosts the picture quality. There is very little distortion in the audio (even when voume is increased). The major benefit is that it has wireless rear speakers when compared to the previous model (panasonic sc-pt460). It is extremely simple to use because all you have to do is put your i-pod into it. No extra i-pod or USB cables have to be connected making it take up very little space and there is no danger of tripping over wires. As far as i know it is compatible with all the different types of i-pods. Overall i think it is an excellent home cinema system. ...
