The basis of a very helpful review is not about the number of words you put on a page put on how concisely you can deliver useful information. So here goes:
Having been on the shelves for less than a year, this nifty cam corder represents fantastic value for money. As a Standard Definition (SD) devise with impressive features including a 70x Optical Zoom, it out performs many of the entrance level High Definition (HD) models.
Available in vibrant red, blue and classy black, it will suit the styles of most people. As a real pocket camcorder it fits snugly into the palm of even a small hand with a strap that maintains great stability and security.
With a traditional build it has a flip out 2.7inch screen with a full 180 degree swivel. It feels solid and sturdy which gives you the confidence to use it robustly and even to give the kids a go with it, (under supervision)
The operation is through a simple and very accessible menu controlled by a four-way joystick. There a very handy ‘Quick Start’ mode that kicks in after an impressive 0.8 seconds. The battery life is adequate and very slim keeping the weight of the unit down.
The S26 captures video and stills to MPEG2 (DVD Quality) and Jpeg format. In the XP recording mode you can get a decent 50 minutes of recording on a 4GB SD Card. The function of uploading straight to YouTube is great for modern quick file sharing. Copying to DVD Disc is also an easy process.
The picture quality in strong daylight is sharp and defined. However all is not necessarily perfect in the world of the Panasonic SDR S26. In low light or indoors quality, I found that the quality becomes significantly lost with the feedback grainy and a red glare. This would be a significant concern to the semi -professional photographer, but to most domestic users it would not be a show stopper.
This sets the standard for Standard Definition great value camcorders and shows that for many, there is no need to jump to the higher definition and more expensive alternatives.
Having been stuck with a busted camcorder on the morning on an important family visit, I dashed to a major electrical store to source a replacement, stumbled across this camera, researched the others on display and chose the S26 for ease of use, merit for the make (I bought Lumix TZ5 and have been really pleased with it, quality, capabilities etc, great lens) and general feel for the camera. in my opinion, X70 zoom works very well, resolution excellent ...

Excellence Camcorders Panasonic s26 using the SD card is the size, and this is evident. Not like a video camera that uses DVD, Mini DV tapes or disk drives, removable flash memory card does not have the means to move to the top of the recording mechanism. If you want a film camera you can menshot around and other things. You can only hold hands with one finger on the S26. But the main point is the 70x zoom zoom. An optical image stabilization system aimed to produce a stable and sharp. This works on the image magnifications low, but failed to provide oscillation-free long distance when the monitor responses lens. The length of the lens that can be done by using the image sensor, so do not bother looking for an HD settings; maximum image ...
