I was very pleased to see the SL MP30 on this website. I still remember when i got my first paycheck at the age of 16 flicking through music catalogues looking at things to buy to fuel my passion for music, i came across lots of CD mp3 players. this was about 4years ago and the memory based Mp3 players were very rare and the memory maximum was about 64MB. That was not enough for me, i needed something to carry atleast 700mb worth of songs, i needed a CD Mp3 player.
So i finnally found a sony CD mp3 player which i bought and it kept turning off every few days, it was a good player but it wasnt very reliable so i returned it hoping for a replacement. The shop did not have the same sony so they offered me the Panasonic SLMP3 CD to keep me happy, even though it was a few pounds more expensive than sony's. I took it grudgingly thinking panasonic wont be as good as sony.
Never have i been so wrong, till today 2006,this Mp3 CD player has not turned off on me once. The CDs I use with it now are stil compatible with its sofware. I use Dvd discs for MP3 songs holding Up to 8,000 songs and the player is still reading every song. I have never had any sort of electrical equipment in my life that has not aged or needed updataing or replaced apart from this player.
I must admit i have given the poor fella a hard time these few years but he never let me down yet. Even though the player has not let me down however the adaptor and headphones that it came with have both been replaced twice, they just stopped working. ther is and xtra bass feature button which from day one has not really added much bass to the music. the rest of the features of the player are your standard playing modes and repeats and holds.
Oh one thing that still impresses me todays is its 100% shock resistant. i have played fottball in the park while having the player tucked in my pokcets and its never skipped or stopped a single beat.
On the whole a great piece of equipment, very reliable. still love it. thank for reading.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
The review's a bit misleading -- it mentions 8000 songs on a DVD, but this is a player that reads data CDs. So far I haven't found a portable non-video player that reads data DVDs, and whether they'd catch on if they were around is debatable... the time to spin up and catalogue thousands of tracks might be prohibitive for most people.
